Default WinEditor Trouble

Not sure if they ControlBar window just wont open in the WinEditor but has anyone else been able to open it successfully and edit it in this editor?

the ControlBar.wnd can be opened with the tool. but the editor eats lots of RAM, that's why it can crash during the process or take a while.
but some other wnd files can't be opened with the editor. I don't know why. But the wnd editor is not the best tool. You should only take to get an idea which items are where and the exact postions you do at best with a simple texteditor.

I wasn't even aware that there was a window editor - I've always made do with notepad, lol.

Thank you for that information.

Oh I am familiar with the text editing portion it is just hard to see what is what. I have to draw everything out and some things aren't working out.

Ill keep trying. Just good to know someone else was able to do it.

As far as I know, it can't open .wnd's that have loading bars on them. Go remove the loading bar manually using notepad, then it will open. And then it can't open .wnd's that have something to do with scrollrange or something. Carefully, look at the error it gives you, you can figure out the problem most of the time.

While this tool is very buggy and uses hella ram, it is very, very helpful if you know what you're doing. Thanks agan Dee!

I just hope that for the next C&C, we can have a fully working one from Dee himself or even better EA.

EDIT: It should be able to open up controlbar.wnd fine. It may take up to a minute. Oh, and don't try running 2 WNDEdits at the same time... BAD IDEA lol

Also if the WNDEdit just immediately crashes when you start it, change compatibility mode to Win 98.
