Lagfest - Unknown Cause!
My mod has been really laggy. All models are under 450 polys, I resized all texures to 256-256, and there were no connection problems in the past. Is there any cause for this lag. It also mismatches at times, so if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it! I made sure we both had the same amount of files (1 .big file) and no extra files were there!

what about your particle effects? are there many new and very much particles at the same time? or if you made own maps for your mod: are there too many objects, detailed textures, 3-way-blends on it?

Do the people you are playing with have a bad connection?

Yeah, first thing to check is the connection.
You playing online or over a lan?
If its online, check the ping, high ping can cause missmatches and obviously lag.

1:
Check your firewall and ESPECIALLY background programs...turn all off
2:
Check the kbps/mbps of your connection, aim for the highest amount
3:
Check your detail level in the options menu of the main screen...reduce these as much as possible
4:
Check your online ping, attempt to reconnect as many times as possible to achieve the lowest ping

Okay, by ANY chance could zhca_ files cause lag, because if it is, I am screwed (my mod uses zhca_ files for about everything). We play on LAN to test it, never played online. I resized most, if not all of my textures down to 256x256 at the most. There aren't many particle effects, and not many objects. I have most of my detail settings on the lowest when I play on LAN. It gets really laggy and I don't know why!!!

The zhca_ prefix only works with TGA files, right? Since TGA files are larger than their DDS counterparts, they could be taking up too much RAM.

The thing is I never HAD problems with TGA files. Before I remade the graphics of my mod, switching from individual housecolor objects, to the zhca_ map, I still used tga files. The only difference between them is the zhca_ format makes it read alpha map as teamcolor, so I don't know if this could cause it.
