"Technical Difficulties"
I'm sure many of us have seen this before:
Right now it's really bugging me. I'm not getting any 'ReleaseCrashInfo' and WorldBuilder is not complaining about anything, and runs as per normal. The game however won't run. I've tried taking out what I believed to be the offending changes (all of the changes prior to it stopping working), but to no avail.
It's probably something simple that I've managed to overlook, but do we know what sort of silly mistakes generate this kind of error?
Thankies,
AmberZ

well...backtrack to the files you used recently...usually if you dont get a caught response on Release crash builder, i find it is usually a problem with:
A)Gamedata.ini
B)AIData.ini
C)Not adding an "End" or a correct number of "Ends" to a code
D)Having duplicates of code for one object...like two module 14's
E)Having impossible OCL's...
try to explain and/or post the very last thing(s) you did b4 it started to act up... that might help

FactionUnit and GameData are the only ones with any recent changes - and I cut out the newer additions to FactionUnit looking for the problem completely.
It could definitely be something like GameData, I'll have to go through that one with a fine-toothed comb.

Actually, I have just found a releasecrashinfo, but strangely it's not putting it in the leaf folder, and is just dumping it on the desktop. It's complaining about GameData, which probably means it's failing to parse something before it gets to the leafname tag all the way at the bottom.
Thanks anyway guys, I'm sure I'll nail it soon enough
Edit:Yup, I was missing an "End" in the GameData

well what i find helpful to do...is to extract a clean copy of gamedata from the .ini [since it is a fairly small INI file] and just open the old one.... then copy like 5 things from the old one and put it in the new one, then test to see if it works... if it does, then add another 5 things from the old one to the new one, if it doesnt, only add like 2 things and try to narrow down the problem... Basically, its a trial and error type thing [I had a problem with Gamedata recently and it helped me]

... Or you can be nerdy and lazy and just use a revision control application to keep track of changes you make and revert back to previous versions if you're about to pull your brains out. The only catch is that'll you'll have to commit changes to later recall to if you need to (kindof like system restore).
I used to use it; until I sortof decided to stop modding one day.

I get the technical problem AFTER I close the game and want to reopen it. So I can like only play once per restart.

That's pretty weird - I'd reinstall and then failing that, consult EA tech support. I can't think why that'd be happening.
As for revisions, I keep two sets of backups so that if edits do go wrong I can just go backwards. I don't like doing it though, I prefer to simply solve the problem outright
