Default Questions about ZH modding

Hello!

I JUST got Generals ZH and love it. I only played original C&C years ago and hated it, except for the video sequences. I was feeling nostalgic so I bought C&C TFD dvd and started playing the games to see how they differed.

C&C - as I remembered it, skipped
RA - Better but skipped, Love Yuri vids
TS/FS - too anime-ish skipped GREAT videos though!!!!
Renegade - I can't believe I missed this, it was awesome!
Generals - Whoa, pretty cool. Loved the "news reports"

So now I got to thinking, I got this great mod now installed called Xenoforce.
It was made my Humora, but he seems to have disappeared for over a year.

I want to replace EXISTING units with some models from my own mod (Robotech 2.0 for Freespace2) However we use vastly more polygons so I need to know some things.

1.) What is the MAX poly limit for the Zh engine that will work regardless of performance (1k, 2k?) We have models from 500 poly to around 20k.

2.) Can unrigged models work in game or will it cause a crash? Even for a unit that has no moving parts?

Note I merely have models in other formats and their textures. I do not have or use the tools needed for ZH but hopefully if I can get stuff organized and ready for porting into ZH I might find someone willing to help.

Even though most of the units in the Mod are LP there are some I think are exceptional and would want extracted from ZH for my use (with full credits to Humora of course).

I am merely a converter, but I have made a few kitbashes. I also do minor texture editing. I have done extensive voice acting for several projects.

I have done over 700 conversions for FS2 from sources consisting of .lwo, .3ds, .obj, .vrml, .dfx, .c4d(with assistance), .peo, .mod, .sod, .nif, wings and blender (with assistance)

My main modding tools are Irfranview, Goldwave, Lithunwrap, Milkshake, and 3dexploration.

I have access to quite a few models I think would look great for ZH - stand alone (not for any other mods in particular ATM)...

For XenoForce, I was thinking of adding the Invid/Masters/Zentreadi as a side "Protoculture" able to summon Marduk and Protodevlin forces...
Controlled by the "Protoculture General" I was thinking of Breeti.

Any info/help would be greatly appreciated. I just wish I had discovered the C&C community years ago!

I also found Sleipnir's site (but it won't send me activation mail). Looks like they are doing exactly what I'm looking for, modding of individual new units and swapping in new models for existing ones...
