Default beacon/smoke grenade halp

anyone know what the object is called or where to look?

its a smoke grenade, pink smoke usually.

used at the start of the toxic fallout map and used in the main game too. i want to use the model for a new special power :|

erm i'm playing zh and dont see a factionprop.ini at all. not in inizh.big nor in w3d.big though the names are much harder to get through there :|

hmm definitely not there in my version. maybe my mod effed it up. will have to try a repair and another look.

edit: yeah found my backup inizh and it was in there tho not in the modded version. curious didnt know it was possible to recompile .big files, and if so why did they bother with the moddable folders at all.

nice one.

now for ocl help. if poss.

i want to be able to restrict this ocl to one beacon at any time, so how would i go about locking the command button? any clue?

You could try a commandset upgrade, although I don't know whether or not it would be possible to get the original commandset back once the beacon is gone.

kewl well i'll keep toying with it.

edit: right i reckon if i make it an object and not a prop i can give it maxsimultaneous line of code which will make the button work properly.

now the thing is i want the beacon to act as a targeting cursor would for a special_power type :|

anyway

i've never yet managed to play zh online. what is the beacon for exactly? seen the buttons for it but never been sure why they're used.

Basically, it just lets you mark an area of the map. Say you are playing 2 vs 2, and your ally's SW is ready and you have a target you want him to use it on, you can use the beacon to show where it is on the map, it also shows up on the radar.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you can tag a message to it also.

argh this is doin my nuts in.

got the beacon object, with it firing a weapon, the weapon does FIREOCL to call the transport. Transport carrys the payload to location.

dont know how to get the beacon to a) be placed without using a weaponset slot or b) fire the weapon

i'm thinking a) have to use a weaponset slot to fire the beacon to the location OR try commandconstruct

and b) have it try to lock target on an invulnerable object nearby, maybe a secondary beacon or other object

OR maybe it can be done by script. i just dont know :|
