I think the one with the dam(oh no,i swore!!! :tard: )is zoomed inned and reversed from the gen official website....though thats what i think

The point is, nobody's actually played on the maps that were used for the beautiful-graphics screenshots. That's why I'm being sarcastic.

The GMPT maps all seem to be these crappy featureless environments. No buildings, a single road maybe, a tree or two, and a hill make up the "terrain". I question if the game is actually playable on a map as detailed as suggested by the promo shots.

And another thing - this is a 3D environment - where the hell is the dynamic lighting? A unit fires a weapon and the weapon fire lights up nothing in the vicinity. Even the original GLQuake had dynamic lighting for chrissakes.

yes, dynamic lighting, just look at the shots of "panzer"(on DZ rontpage?) thats beautiful, and i hope for the ady where RTSs will look as good as some games these days, including ut2k3, mafia and splinter cell(hegemonia is pretty close), an further than that, realistic reflection and refraction of light in different mediums, that would be great

and people have always noted the terrain being bad, even in those promo shots, no grass, trees dont fit in, blurry landscape, etc.

Absolutely, lighting effects are one of the main reasons to use a 3D engine. It's now expected for 3D racing games to have reflections and refractions all over the place, why not in this game? Unless I'm an idiot I'm not seeing any lighting effects here at all. Even the shadows seem just drawn on the ground like in RA2. Where are the multiple light sources? Bah.

Yeah I saw the Panzer shot, DZ is right, with something like that on the horizon it's a waste of time to make a Generals WW2 mod. Panzer makes Generals look like a cartoon. WW2 and cartoonish don't go together.

the shadows in generals are actually pretty nice, but like u said, fire an explosions dont cast light on other vehicles or buildings and there's just a light from the ground

BTW: The maps with all the cool stuff are mostly from the Single Player Campaign...... :| :|
Although I can't wait to see if I can add some cool stuff to my own maps.
