Dune is the best Sci-fi in the world its official and plus why only have two sides when you can have threee and I'm offering my help and I'm sure I can get many others from http://www.dune2k.com to help me
... or, why have three sides when you can have four!
It is possible to add extra sides to the game, therefore and at the very least, the sides will be the Federation, Klingon Empire, the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire.
As cool as it sounds, adding factions from Dune would change the whole theme from STvsSW to ST vs SW vs Dune... which I'm sorry to say, doesn't appeal to me at this moment.
I've participated in ST vs SW vs Dune fan-fics and they will work. If you just plan to do SW vs ST then I will d/l and add Dune myself but I'll use it for my own personal use only
Yea I can imagine it does work... its just at the present moment, it not something the team is into. Perhaps in the future we will add Dune into the mix.
As for you adding Dune after we release the mod... certainly, by all means. I'd even go as far as to say, go ahead and release your work, as long as you state in the credits that the original ST vs SW was created by Project 90, with a link to our site, then there's really no problem. Infact, we actively encourage people to do that with our mods.
I have no clue about startrek or starwars or whatever...
The generals engine is very usable for quite alot whitin the rts game stuff. Is it doable to create this game? Yes, indeed it is. You could have flying sauceres and lots of robots shooting and doing alot of mayhem.
But there is several limits.
What you see in Generals is what you get and no more. If your mod can stay whitin those limits, then I say go for it.
The best thing you could do is to get a bit acquainted with how to understand the Generals ini files. Use 2 days to figure out basic stuff, and do some easy modding. In this way you will clearly see if Generals is your type of engine to work on. I would not make the final decition without understanding the engine. The engine itself is very easy to understand how it work, but in the same time it is annoying and a bit time consuming to work with. And you will on an early stage find out if your ideas fit into the engine or not.
...and don't pay attention to those who are negative here.
I understand totally DarkSlayer. That is why we're not committing ourselves to this mod as yet. We're still trying to ascertain the community's reaction to this idea... which should give us enough time to decide if it is truely possible to create.
