Default Potential Unit Idea... Aircraft Carrier

It has probably been mentioned though after hours of browsing these forums I thought I would make a mention of it to those skilled modders out there. I don't mod but I appriciate all the work that goes into them. The great the bad and the ugly they all took time and effort. Grats to you all!

Now..Here's my idea.

1. Merge both Building Unit and Vehicular Units. I don't know how hard coded this is but I feel that there could be potential here with some playing around.
An aircraft carrier to me is basically a moving base. WIth upgrading parts you can add to it.

- Basic aircraft carrier can do things like use radar and create basic jets or aircraft (dog fighters or strike bombers). Of course there is limited space on each carrier. perhaps a supply drop depo on the unit as well.
- Upgrades can include Carrier defense systems from scuds or nukes or antiaircraft turrets.
-Carrier could create infantry for beach raids. Also infantry transports from sea land.
-artillery barrage on timer to cause havoc on land bases.
- other creatable aircraft units could include spy planes and hercules Planes for infantry drops or transporting vehicles. Few forms of Helicopters from apache to comache's.
- Carriers could also hold tanks, humvees, rocket buggies blah blah blah. up to a limited amount.

Now that being said:

Pros: All in one base. Hard to target from land. difficult to destroy.
Cons: Cost a ton to build one and upgrade. And if destroyed all air, land, infantry units on or inside the carrier would be lost as well.

Adding this unit to all countries would be a great idea I feel, But I imagine the difficulty in accomplishing this task. Is it possible?

Also...
It would be great to see one of these in an unofficial mission ex-pack for britain or another naval capable country. Russia might be a good country as well.

So it would be sort of like the Iron Fist in TS: Firestorm but on water. Sounds fun.

Would the GLA really have the technological capability to build it? It sounds like it would be very advanced tech.

Well when i was thinking of the Idea, I thought mainly for military super powers. BUT for equilibrium reasons for players that like balanced gameplay, I feel that there should be some sort of unit like this for each faction.

My Idea of adding a russion faction like back in CnC Red Alert I think could have some potential with a possible submarine unit of the like. Perhapse the GLA has an air unit. I know that there is a mod in the works for GLA cave networking. I dunno how it would be possible but perhapse adding a function for GLA to travel underground and pop up in the middle of the enemies base?

Again I dont know how hard these would be to impliment but I definatly could get the idea roledex spinning. Great stuff I'd like to see!

I like the idea. If it works you could make a complete navy battle mod. You could have the aircraft carrier (or simliar ships) when you start, then build construction type boats that build ship yards and stuff. Lots of smaller boats for assaulting the enemy, aircraft of course, and that really big battleship heheh.

The GLA would have much cheaper stuff, and worse obviously. They'd still need some kind of behemoth boat though lol.

It would be a really nice mod i think.

reading this the GLA could use like a huge trawler for a base upgradable with sam sites basically and can pollute the water to damage nearby ships. or something like an ocean liner.

as a joke we can bring back dolphins and giant squids........

already done it. The aircraft carrier is hard in the fact that generals doesn't really allow hard coding.
That said, as I have done, you create bones on the surface of the carrier, being:
1. Where each plane that is produced spawns form (a hanger or something)
2. Where each plane parks
3. Where each plane moves to when it begins it's takeoff sequence,
5. Where each plane fires up its engines to begin takeoff
6. The end of the runway

Mine just about works, but it takes up half the screen at 700 polys
I know the limit for units is 600, however at 5000 a pop, I dont think it will be a rush unit
