Default UVW mapping / UnwrapUVW (please help)

Hello all,

I am new at CnC editing, and I have a litle problem, that I don't know how to fix it. I have created a new 3d model and export it as .w3d. And now in RenX(Gmax) I want to unwrap it, to create a pictur for my skining/texturising. I have read all the tutorials in this and all other pages, but I still have one litle problem. I will tell you how do I work by steps:
1. Build a 3d model with about 300 poligons.
2. I attach all parts from a model that I want to skin (not lights, and in game colors,.. ) in one part.
3. I select Unwrap UVW and click edit.
And here is the problem. UVW Unwraping just don't want to do his job. The picture in UVW Unwraping should look like a 3d model converted to 2d picture, but my picture is like 3d model shrinked to that 'sqare' in picture. So the 'model' in UVW mapping is not 40px-60px dimensions but 40px-40px, and that is no good for my skining...

I hope you understand me and try to help me.

See ya,

Gorky

You need to select the faces that face the same way and make them planar mapped go through the model face by face, matching the ones that are similiar.

Proclones tutorial goes into detail about this, so does the help files included with GMAX.

Read though the Rendegade tools manuals too.

Just takes time and practice.
