Well I'm sure there will alot of experimentation. I'm not looking to take away from Tolkien. I'm also a big fan.

is anyone interested in making a Samuri style mod? I think this would fit the game well, and seems like a cool idea too me... i'd do it myself, but i honestly don't think i have the time

I had an idea for a BFME mod, but since I get bored of every idea after a week or so, I doubt it'd make it into a mod.

Anyway, my idea was to make a Middle-Earth-esque world, but in an Industrial Revolution. One side still holds the old tactics, swordfight and magic, while the other (industrialised) side prefers to use rifles and all sorts of guns.

I always thought a Dwarven side would be fun along with Wild Elves. But seeing the relaese has been delayed. I am very close to bailing on this project cause I hate being played...

You are an idiot. How the hell are you being "played" by them releasing the project a month later? Maybe if the had repeatedly pushed back the release, and lied about it (like hl2)...then you'd have reason to be pissed off at EA.

If you are going to get pissed off at EA, at least do it for valid reasons. There are many many better reasons than them delaying the game.

Dude chill out and don't call me an idiot. I've never disrespected you. I mean played as being given releases dates that don't stick. I'm not pissed at EA, who gives a shit about EA, I'm just looking at other projects that's all. Maybe you should not read into what I write without knowing what I mean.

You make it sound like I spit in someones face. If they are gonna goof around on release dates than I'll do something else. Your reply makes me want to squeeze your neck till you turn purple.

Now let's get back on topic and have some respect for others...

As I already proposed in a topic, there could be a Shire mod. We now know for sure that there will be no Shire in the actual game. This is sadly disappointing because there was a huge battle in the book that had the hobbits fighting Saruman's followers and Saruman and Wormtail themselves. I know the movies did it a little differently, but that is no reason to not put it in the game.

I would like to start a mod that will at least add hobbit holes, building, ... I don't neccesarily think that the BFME modding community will be a TC one (at least not in the very beginning). TC mods of a large scale (RA2, TS,...) will probably appear a lot later (just like generals) Actually, I think there is going to be a Generals mod at some time, but the new game mechanism (preset building spaces, etc.) will make for a completely different experience.

Either way, modding will be most likely based around new addition such as factions or areas not present in the game. It would be really interesting to see the Grey Havens being invaded by Orc and the Valar coming to help LOL

Now that I thought of it, if there are no Valar in thea actual game, I guess they can be added in a similar way the generals were added in ZH. It woul make for a very diverse gameplay. You could have Morgoth for the forces of the dark, but only using the orcs, not the Skuruts.

There are so many battle and places in Middle-earth that aren't going to be in the game, that think the mods and maps for this game will be really interesting

I feel that the most interesting factions will be the neutral armies that are gained thru the game. The will have the most flexible agenda...

Well, I'm not in the US - but it certainly makes for different gameplay and it could potentially look great, but it's not an easy product to snap out. People seem to be far more interested in the cliched modern war / vietnam / WW1/2 mods
Well there arent alot ww1 mods around, as a matter of fact we are the only ww1 mod for a strategy game... so ww1 should be out of the 'cliche' list :P

(bf1918, bf1914, tgw for c0d (i'm in that one myself asswel), overthetop (hl2), the trenches (hl1), trenchrats (mohaa, i was in that 2, dead now)

I'm thinking of shipping to BFME because of the cavalry and the more use of infantry (i'm infantry animator :P). But we'll see that when it comes out.

btw we got new site:

new website
contents are being filled atm

greetingz,

I am making plans for a sci-fi TC set about 150 years in the future. But that is all the information you are getting...

One problem I forsee with making TC mods is the lack of infantry animations for modern warfare mods. Using Generals animations will probably be possible, but will look much worse than the new BFME ones...and will also have no emotion states. Unless you feel like doing something creative with the surrender animations. I wonder if they left in the code which gives penalties for different emotional states but set it to 0 effect, or just removed it completely...
