Why do so many people feel like EA is this massive evil corporation that churns out terrible games just to steal your hard-earned money?

Yeah I was alittle disillusioned by that story. We all know they could provide all of the things that make sense like mod installer, etc, etc. What sucks is we are limited to the modules they code. Even if BFME has updates in some relevant areas, they will lack in others.

Aircraft in BFME is gonna be a SOB to do. And let's pray they keep some things like TURRET and TURRETEL or we're doomed for tank coding. They probably will but imagine if there is no falling bombs code?

What will we do without a good old fashioned carpet bombing?

Whilst this may be crazy logic, IIRC EA has put a link to the Blitz III site on the BfME website. This means that they are aware that people are trying to make 'modern' style mods. If they had deleted all relevant code, then they would not put Blitz III on their site since they would have to remove it when Blitz III shut down due to engine limitations. Therefore, it should be possible to make tanks, etc.

Or perhaps not, knowing EA...

Actually I asked them to do that.

Of course B4ME can handle tanks and such. You people act like its a new game, when essentially it is generals with an optimized engine.

The sort of thing I was thinking about is the tank specific model code, for example, will it be able to have tracks animated depending on whether the tank is moving, which way the tank is turning, etc. Same for wheeled vehicles, will there be support for wheels rotating when steering etc.?

My reading of optimised was 'all unnecessary stuff taken out'. Tank tracks, etc would not be needed for a LOTR game, and so might have been taken out as part of the optimisation process...
