The Sith War has launched!
With many thanks to the recent launching of the Unleashed Network, The Sith War, a Total Conversion for BFME based around the ancient Sith times, has launched! It brings to life the Republic, the Sith Empire, and the Mandalorian Clans in brutal, infantry and Jedi heavy battles! Check it out here!

This could be a cool project but your site needs some work.

Aye aye, I built it from scratch having no previous HTML experience. For the moment, it's a place we can show off our stuff until we get a better design going...which I need to find a good web designer for >< we've been working on this idea for at least 4 months, so to finally have a site is worth the non-excellent design.
By the way, I thank you for your constructive critiscm. It's appreciated!

We're currently (trying) to get work done on a new website. At the moment, just having one is good enough for us, our flair will come through in the gameplay and ideas, but having a good website IS vital, so we're working on it. Please be patient

Whats really vital to a mod is having people who can actually put stuff into the game, and/or are prepared to learn.Good luck
I mean, you been working on this for 4 months, but you have no art to show whatsoever?I know you and painless cant do anything in that respect(and are unprepared to learn), but hasnt lava done anything?(even though he is not a character animator and you seem to be doing an infantry based mod that will require a lot of new animations).
4 months to write a few paragraphs? And you guys think we at IA are slow - even going so far as to criticise the hard working members of the group who actually get the mod somewhere and who dedicate a lot of their time, while youve done sweet FA by comparison.....that pisses me off.

Wow, key0p, you sound bitter. If I were a lesser man, I might flame you for those remarks, but I'll just put you in your place, good friend.
For your information, The Sith War was dying after two months because the previous two leaders let college and other duties get in the way. For about 2 of those 4 months we weren't sure exactly what was going to happen to the mod, until I found enough time to take it upon myself to bring it back to life. In doing so, I wrote, more than the few paragraphs you see, but an ENTIRE MOD from the ground up, including a fully impressive 3-tier campagin. And including balancing, which you at IA haven't even attempted to do yet. The lack of information to the public is a strategic decision. And we indeed have art, just not to show because we've been spending most of the recent time concepting the art to get the best idea of what type of styles would work best. And also for your information, Lava Sky has been having personal RL issues and I have, kindly, slackened his work.
We are rapidly getting our ranks filled with dedicated people who will do those jobs I can't do (already tried modelling, thank you, so you can't say I "refused" to learn it)
Also, the game isn't even out yet, so we're not entirely CERTAIN of everything that can be done.
So before you start smacking stuff, get a little perspective. And try running your own mod. Thank you.
-Edit- Removed...rather not start a fight

Hey.. calm it. How can you balance the mod when the game isn't actually out yet. Puzzles me.
Not showing stuff for your mod is quite stupid, when you won't be able to generate any kind of excitement whatsoever. I can see where you are coming from, It might work for bigger, anticipated titles, but for an unknown mod, you might wanna try generating as much excitement as possible.

hehe, that WAS calm. I was just rather surprised at his comments because Key0p and I have worked closely together in the past and I have always had the utmost respect for his work...either way, you make 2 good points but my take on them is this:
1: Balancing. As you mentioned, it is impossible to balance if the game isn't out. However, in the design of a mod you can do your best to have things in what I like to call "pre-balance." As it stands right now, the unit types, numbers per side, and for the MOST part abilities are made to balance against each other. What we'll need to do once we can make the units is tweak actual numbers, like movement speed, attack rate, etc, otherwise it's pretty much balanced in concept, which is a lot more difficult than it looks.
2: Information: Call it stupid if you like, but it would be about 10 times more stupid if we released a huge, complicated tech tree and then had to remove 2/3 of it later because "it couldn't work in-game." As a mod for a game that isn't out yet, we find ourselves in the un-enviable position of deciding how much of our plans we can release to the public. We're 99% sure that all of our infantry ideas are perfectly workable in BFME, so we released them. The other units, however, will have to wait until we're sure. I'd rather appear to be working slow than to appear like an idiot with all these grandiose plans that will never see the light of day, and then we'd have people who were looking forward to playing with X unit and are now pissed that it won't be included, etc. etc.

I had a word with Mr Painless a few days ago about coding for The Sith War, he told me to sign up on the forums but I'm still having troubles registering on your forums, keep getting a Debug error when registering. I am still interested in coding but cant register, just so you dont think i've gone away.

That's cool Xyvik. I look forward to seeing more in the future
(even so, it would be nice if you did show some concept art and stuff :P)
