Default Shellmaps

ok, i have a headache so bare with me.....

As in generals and ZH you had a shellmap, and then if u didnt have enought Ram, there was chance u had a Static Shellmap, My Bfme, has a static shellmap screen (if u want a pic of it, ask), but i see people metioning the shortcut -noshellmap. Does that mean there is a moving shellmap like in generals/ZH? If there is, why dont i have it... I can run the game fine and my game always lags when loading a saved game, whicih is caused by the engine powering up, other then that, i have no gaming issues.

For the people who read that, i commend you, could someone please enlightin me, im in the dark.

I do have a shellmap so maybe you fall in the short end of the specs. It's more of an animation though I've never tried to open the shellmap. Sounds interesting. I may try that.

I have the absolute minimum specs (Geforce 2 GTS) and I have no shellmap either. I don't mind, the picture that's there looks pretty good. What I've been told, the shell-map is also the Sauron eye, but then it moves around.

A Geforce 4MX is a budget card and known to be slower than a Geforce 2 GTS. Nvidia MX cards are ... slow.

Its probably because the engine or game has scalability features sort of like the source engine, but probably on a more limited scale. So you might not get as many neat effects as someone who has a nie dx9 card. And thus its faster, but you aren't running the same game as someone with a higher tech card. I good example is that I could play Doom3 with a GF2 moderately fast, but it basically looked like a messed up high poly glQuake. I could run Doom3 with my Radeon9800pro at almost same speeds (a bit faster maybe), but it looked absolutely amazing and had all the advanced features on.
