Default Camera Control

I've managed to change my pitch, limit the camera hieght, and attach the camera to follow an object, but it's still not quite the way I want to be. Used the Worldbuilder to attach the camera to a unit to make it follow him, but it doesn't rotate in the game. Not too big a problem, except it also locks onto his feet. Even zoomed out, this looks very weird.

Anyone know a way to fix this? But more importantly, what exactly is the difference between camera "tether" and camera "follow"? Trying to create an almost third-person perspective.

Update: Tethering the camera makes it look better because it doesn't lock onto the feet, but the tether is controlled by an unknown variable as far as length goes. It tethers but it does it way too far out without any zoom option.

I've tried changing every camera variable in the gamedata file as well as every one in the map settings. I can't pinpoint the variable that actually affects the tether length. Anyone happen to know?

This camera angle thing sounds great, be sure to post it in once youve cracked it.
