Default Adding a faction.

AdmiralGT sat down and put together a really nice tutorial on adding a faction. Easy to read and understand. It's the first in a multipart series. Next he'll be doing "adding a new base" and "adding a new spellbook"

I've added some beginner tuts on things like the basic files and such.

I'm sorry. I did see you make one But AdmiralGT wrote it, with some reference work done from Sy's work. So his is independant of yours. Unless you helped Sy.

well if u look at the post sloved-adding a new faction then u will see that they got their idea from the ME-MW forums where i posted the solution.

I also find it very hard to believe that two people could come up with exactly the same idea at the same time, especially a method as complicated as this one!!

The only information I took was from Sy and was about the csf entries. The ME-MW credits you for the Upgrade Idea.

THIS IS COMPLETELY USELESS AND UNNECESSARY

There is no need to remove the original upgrades and there is certainly no reason to add that pile of code that is called point 2. Why are you giving every other faction the exact same commandset that you gave your new faction. Read my tutorial and you'll notice I make no mention of the Upgrades. This is because you don't need to change it.

Oh, and the editing of the csf file isnt strictly necessary. You can force your faction to be built by removing the other playable factions from PlayerTemplate.ini. By choosing random it will automatically include your faction and result in a MISSING string on load up.

It would only make sense to me that there is only one way to add a new faction. Makes sense they would use the same methods.

The process might be complicated, however there is only one way to add a faction to BFME. INI does not allow you the luxury of adopting different coding styles or practices, it is very strict in what is expected.

To say that no-one else can come to the same conclusions is foolish and as I said in the other post, where I have obtained information from other sources I have credited for it.

The fact is I had gotten most of the way myself, the only piece in the puzzle that I missed was the civilianbuilding and without that it just won't work and they're is no other way you can do it.

I must say I am a little fed up with your attitude, you assume that because you figured out how to add a faction that it MUST be you that I gather the informaiton from. When in actual fact I figured out 90% of it myself, mainly because for a long time no-one would answer my thread and I had no alternative. The final piece of the puzzle was gained from the Middle Earth forums from a post by Jrsheets955. So you see I have nothing to credit you for. Although I assure you I would have if I did.

i was the one in his thread who posted the upgrade solution. I did not do it on my own and i am not saying that i discovered the method on my own but hostile was giving complete credit to you and on the other post which u created there is even a link to the page we discovered the solution in. You did not even give jrsheers955 any credit

all i am saying is that you have to give credit where credit is due.

if this is going to turn into flaming match then just leave it.

Getting back on topic. I think the tutorials on the site will help beginner modders get started with modding, saving people here the time of explaining the simple stuff. Just send them to Our Site

It also includes all the up to date tools needed for modding BFME.

What do you plan to include in the 'Adding A New Spell Book' tutorial?

Im only asking because I reckon Im the only one who has managed to properly get 12 spells in multiplayer
