Default Asset Builder

I've written this as a stand alone tool for creating asset.dat files, it has 2 modes of operation which means you can use it for simple mods or total conversions.

Full credit has been given to Koen and Rene for there work with asset.dat and W3D.

The user interface is simple and supports drag and drop.

Asset Builder reads the registry to obtain the installation path of BFME and locate the original asset.dat file.

There are 2 options to use when:

Append to existing asset.dat
or
Create asset.dat from files in list only

Whichever you choose the files in the list are used to either create or append to the new file. Once you click on the Save button an explorer dialog will appear and allow you to specify the name and location to save the new file to. You should store the new file with your mod files so that it can be included in your own BIG file in the root.

Version 1.1 is now ready for download and feedback, I've verified that it creates valid dat files, what I haven't been able to check yet is that the new files are actually visible ingame, so if someone could give me some feedback I'd appreciate it.

Very nice! Simple=power. It would be cool if you internally stored the original asset.dat (maybe choose to use it as an option and clearly mark its version incase it ever changes) so that the user can abuse his system as he wants.
I can verify that it works.

I haven't tested it extensively but it appears to work fine. What a valuable program. May I post it at my site for further exposure?

I think there are still one or two issues with the Mod Swapper that I need to fix, I will make it a priority tonight and email an update.

Fantastic work, it's relatively easy to use, and it does what it is required to do - what more could we ask for other than a big red button?

I think this deserves a sticky.....

It's the next best thing. The first best thing was the Koen and Rene work. This is making use of that work.

Great work Sy!

Note: About the Swapper. It's perfectly flawless with Generals and ZH. I've tested over 49 mods simaltaneously installed using it and have had no problems. I am sure he will ensure the same with BFME support added to it.

Which version, is that 49 mods with the re-vamped version?

Thanks for the support, AAK. Regarding BFME, so far I think a MOD SWAPPER is only really useful as a development aid. As BFME I find that its much easier to launch mods for BFME with a simple shortcut and the -mod switch.
