Default Try my new Spider Lair! :)

Well I've created a new structure for Mordor that will build a Spider Lair on either a base plot or economy plot. The building itself is a redone neutral goblin lair with some webbed guys and sleletons for cosmetic flavor.

Upon building, it spawns small hatchling spiders that are unselectable and wander around the lair. They provide minimal protection. Easily killed but free, no command points, and respawnable.

At first level you can build Large spiders, at second level Giant spiders. Max building level of three.

The spiders themselves (at least the Large and Giant ones) have four levels and will change color from normal to 2nd level RED, to 3rd level BLUE, to finally 4th level they turn white.

Very effective early in the game to take out neutral structures and to scout about because of thier speed. Against an army you need to do alot of attack and run away manuevers. You only get one attack while a hordes gets at least five.

All Spiders regain health if left alone for a short while. They cannot pickup treasure so be sure to have some goblins around to back them up.

The structure costs 600, the Large spiders 500, and the Giant 1000. They do build rather quick though. This will increase thier use in times of defense if you have the cash.

I hope you all enjoy it, it was 2 weeks in the making. (here and there of course)

Any feedback it welcome.

Screenies for the unconvinced.

Looks good, I'll have to try it out sometime. Just a matter of preference I would make the different rank colors a little more palid, not as bright. A myriad of greys/greens/browns that would be distinctive enough to tell apart but not eyepopping when they change would be ideal. Did you actually do skin swaps or a color filter effect?

I just added a color hue to the skins. I woudn't call it my best artistic work. It was more for testing. I was more doing to gain some knowledge on structure coding. It's open source so just take the original shelob skin, color it as you please and name it appropriately and it'll work.

Surprisingly it turned out to be alot of fun ingame despite the slap together artwork. Fun to see a troll punch a spider and send it flying on it's back. It also got me used to experience upgrades and skin changes based on upgrades.

It was a good learning tool.
