Default gamedata.ini

So I know that -preferLocalFiles doesn't make the game look at a modified gamedata.ini file in the folders. But it seems to me that -mod doesn't make them game look at a modified gamedata.ini even though it is in a .big file. Am I correct on this? Is the only way to get the game to read a new gamedata.ini to either delete or overwrite the old one?

To be honest, why even make the changes in the gamedata ini file. I make the raw change in the unit. I define the actual number right in the build cost and time there in the object file.

Than you don't have to worry about it.

That's not what I am changing. I am changing the population values.

Thanks, I'd be wondering why my new pop sizes weren't coming through!

I'm guessing (and DeeZire can either confirm or deny) that it's a redundant file? Some of it is used.. but perhaps the majority may well be hardcoded. Think like the campaign.ini file..

That doesn't explain why the game doesn't read it when it is contained in a mod .big file.
