Default Getting Around the Max Map Size of 600x600

Does anyone know a way to get the WB to allow you make maps bigger than 600x600? I'm not an inexperienced map maker, so please don't respond as if I'm a noob with why would I want to make a map that big.

I try to input a larger map, but it always restricts it to 600x600. I am aware of resource problems the bigger a map gets, and the more objects you utilize in it. I would just like to know first if it's even possible, and second how would I accomplish it? I am not above/beneath hex editing to obtain the solution. Heh.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I just want to make some really epic maps, even if for single player only.

While we're on the subject, Warcraft III had a 4 Mb map limit for online play. Does anyone know what BFME's online map filesize limit is?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Take care.

Is there even a limit? Online map transfer never even worked for me so I wouldn't know.

You would have to make your map in a cleanly installed and unpatched version of the game. Using the original unpatched World Builder allows you to make bigger maps (800x800 IIRC).

Thanks, DZ. I'll try it.

Any idea if/where I could hexedit worldbuilder.exe to increase the max?

Take care.

I was going to say, I've made maps bigger than 600x600, but then I've never upgraded my WB or BfME, lol.

Its not a simple hex edit Im afraid. Best suggestion I have is to use a program like SoftIce, look at the contents of RAM at runtime and find out where the 600x600 is stored and then change it.
