Default SKinning problem

I just tried to follow one of the tutorials on skinning with photoshop, but can anybody tell me how to make the models use .dds files as textures? RenX just tells me that it is an "invalid file type". Is there any other way to assign materials to objects?

you need to skin in .tga format so that Renx will understand it
then, just convert it to DDS so its compressed, the game will find it anyway

When saving as MIPS (.dds format) use them as they are scaled down versions of the skin so when you zoom out they use less system resources.
