Default Halogen needs a BfME Coder

Just a little staff searching for Halogen (www.Halogen.SlipstreamProductions.net). Before the release of BFME, we were all very excited to get to work with a (kinda) new engine to make our mod. Anyways, after release, when the tank code and other vital code to make a scifi war mod work were missing, we lost a lot of enthusiasm. Now that modding for BFME has become more feasible, I think it's time that we looked into modding for it again. After all, I know I'm not gonna play my shiny 50 dollar DVD very much, without some mod to fix it...

So, here's the status. We plan to reuse most of the art from Halogen for ZH, since it looks perfectly fine and is nearly all there, and simply re-rig whatever's needed to make a demi-port for BfME. However, since BFME is significantly different than ZH, and actually fits the Halo universe better, especially the Covenant side, we will need new gameplay. Right now, all we have for the BfME mod is a series of loose design documents, and most all of the art assets.

We are looking for a skilled, devoted coder who can handle writing the code for the Covenant and UNSC in our mod. It will be a significantly different mod, than the ZH one, and will require some innovative coding.

Post here, or email me at Dispraiser@gmail.com if you'd be interested.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in. I searched around and didn't see any precedent of people posting staff searching threads in here. It seems related, though.

Dispraiser, I don't think porting Halogen is a good idea...
You're going to hit walls and restrictions in what you've developed so far for ZH that you'll loose a lot of the nice gamefeatures you have now. BFME holds a lot of new eyecandy features, but at the same time they removed alot of core code. The appeal is only superficial. IMHO, the result is not worth the effort.

But hey, you can do like Smurf : ignore my advice and find out one year later that, just maybe, it wasn't such a great idea after all..

It has a completely different tech tree with very different gameplay. It's not a port, just a mod that shares the same models.

Smurf seems to be doing well enough, I'll follow his way

Try posting at http://the3rdage.net maybe a good coder will help you.

But seeing as many people there do not know of DS, maybe you'll be treated like someone they don't know. At least try and see. Link to previous stuff and who knows.

Hard to assume credibility in a game that no one know you in. I know you do great things, but if you need BFME coders, than you should probably try T3A.

I'll sticky the topic if you make it to get more exposure....I know who you are but it doesn't mean they will.

Posting for staff here is like talking to a tombstone on this subject. As you've noticed it's alittle quite here...

Hehe, good advice. I saw the tutorials there, and started to follow them, but always ended up just trying and failing to do my own thing. Too bad of add/overconfidence in my ability to figure out EA's code.
