Default Campaign editing

Ok, I'm not trying to do any hardcore campaign editing (at least, I think). What I want to do is add new units I created to the campaign. Right now, I can build them in the campaign, but they don't carry over to the next mission. What I need to know is how to make it so that the new units do carry over from mission to mission. What do I have to edit. Some poeple have suggested the maps, but after looking through the scripts of numerous maps, I haven't found anything regarding which units go on. Does anybody know how to do this?
