Waist-Deep - 3d Artist Wanted
Shee Labs' current policy is to not start mod development unless a full minimum team can be found. Waist Deep is a project which will now go forwards if there is a 3d artist willing to work with the project on the small number of models required to produce Waist-Deep.
The 3d artist would be working mostly with 2-3000 poly models, but also larger 6-8000 poly models and be able to use normal mapping to their advantage on top of this, allowing an extreme depth of detail unlike normal RTS. The cost is the need for detailed texturing and a high quantity and quality of animation - this is more akin to an FPS in that regard.
We're looking to build on Battle for Middle Earth 2 - not the best game in the world, but it has everything that the mod requires to move forwards with good productive pace and extreme graphical, physical and gameplay quality.
Team name:
'Shee Labs' Mod Teams
Project name:
'Waist-Deep'
Brief description:
A small company of mercenary marines are sent deep into the Amazonian rainforest to engage another group of mercenaries that are moving out of a scientific research center. The mercenaries are to engage, and retain any material that may be being stolen, belonging to their mysterious employer.
Little do they realise that their mercenary opponent aren't fleeing with stolen goods, they're fleeing for their lives. The nights are about to light up...
The mercenaries are to find themselves in a position where they must pursue their targets through thick swampy mangroves, whilst fending off ambushing creatures that are known as 'Lucids'. The Lucids are variable in size and species, but are essentially an ambush faction, relying on their ability to submerge themselves and strike at point blank range, claiming a victom and submerge once more...
Target aim:
'Waist-Deep' is a high detail survival horror real time strategy game. It aims to combine both the better elements of small scale strategy gaming with the suspensory elements commonly associated with the survival horror genre. We aim to focus on multiplayer gameplay, but also incorporate a short singleplayer campaign of five or six missions at a later date.
Compensation:
No financial compensation available. This project is however ideal for portfolio work for those intending to later break into the games industry in some form. It's a mod!!
Technology:
Battle for Middle Earth 2 - the *actually* optimised version of the SAGE engine.
Team structure:
The current team is running short of minimal levels;
Two coding staff, one level designer.
Website:
Will not be developed without a minimal team.

Teaser Text:
“Tonight the ordeal begins anew, in the darkest hours of the night, when the clouds block the light of our moon. We have shuttered the windows, barred the gates, set the guards and prepared our defences. No one has yet taken account to my plea for reinforcement, and there are but few scant hours until dusk.
The flesh-devourers will come, of that I can be sure. The new recruits scoff; they say that they are but tales of drunken soldiers who wish to seem the wiser, or of the officers who wish to scare the fresh bloods into obedience.
But I know the truth. I was at my post when they died, and I was there the last time they came, my body still shakes with the fear in my heart.
Remember my words exactly; etch them upon your memory. Some may think me mad or delusional, but they were not there to see the ordeal, to feel fear gripping you so tightly as to turn your senses numb.
Fear the darkness; believe not in the sanctity of the light, for nothing can stop them, not the barred window or the locked door, not the gunshot or knife-blow, save the daylight.
Make your piece with God tonight, escape the camp, and do not return if you value your life.
They don’t just kill you, some they slay, others they take, sinew, whips, barbs and talons. Their screams haunt my sleep, are my very waking nightmare. I know that I will not live another night.
Be not here this eve, hide and skulk, crawl on your belly through the swampy tangles of forest if you must, but don’t be here when the man-stalking demons come. They will come, and all will die or be taken. That is the way of things.
Now it is near the dusk, the moon grows obscured, we fear them, and they will come, and then they will kill us, but, sometimes they don’t just kill you…”
