Map Size in WorldBuilder
I'm new to map making in WB and would like to know are there any map size limits and what is the largest map that can be made.
Since i always like to play within a city,i would like to make a gigantic urban map,the biggest that is possible.
Also are there any limits to the amount of buildings that can be on a map

There aren't any map size/no. object limits as far as I know, but anything in 4 figures will probably cause the computer to explode.
Just use common sense when you size the map - you can always make it bigger later if you want to.

We had a discussion about this before the memory wipe. If I remember right map size ca be quite bug but it would take a lot of time to travel across it also if you add a lot of things to it the game might slow down.

tru, it wud take a lot of time, but as long as u dont have too many trees or buildings, it shud be ok.
eg. if u wanted a 400x400, blank map for GIANT skirmishes, you cud do it, but it wud have to be BLANK!!
btw. waypoints also count, as do most other things. eg. trigger areas, ai players, excessive amounts of supplie docks and piles etc...

i believe 400 x 400 on a four player map is fine, ive had no problems with it. i commonly use 250 x 250 for a two player aswell. u could run into problems tho if u use alot of height in ur map. please start ur ground level at 16 and build from there, ive seen some maps go to h e l l bcuz people used alot of the terrain that was well elevated.

There is an object limit of 3000 imposed on the public version of WorldBuilder - this includes ALL objects, structures, units, trees, road sections, bridges etc etc.
You can go above that limit, but every time you select, move, rotate or place an object you will get a warning message which seriously hinders your map making time. At 3000 objects, the game starts to struggle a little, although this can vary between computers. Mine seems to be able to handle around 4000 without too much trouble but again this will differ between processor speeds and LOD selected.
Try to avoid a lot of water areas and definately avoid covering the map with one large water section (see the official China campaign map 2 to see a very bad example of this - it causes lag hell on the map).

I also believe EA has recommendations in their WB tutorial. Check that.

Technically, WorldBuilder can render maps with infinite size, it all depends on what the computer can handle. But, as a general rule, never make a map any bigger than 500x500. For an urban 4-player map, I'd recommend 350x350 or 400x400, but don't just fill it all up with buildings, that would result in a large amount of lag.
