Default Maps not showing up in Generals

I extracted the map HOMELAND ALLIANCE from the Map Big file, added 5 buildings to it,and saved it under the same name.

When i start the game and select the user maps, its not there in the map list.

I also took the same map and resized it to 500x500,made 2 versions of it named FULL URBAN CONFLICT and FULL URBAN CONFLICT 2,saved them in the same map folder and the same thing happens, they don't show up in the list.

The path to the maps are correct.

C:\Documents and Settings\adamstrange\My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data\Maps

I opened another map thats in this folder called CITY SIEGE and removed 2 buildings and when i started the game this map did show up in the list and in the game with the 2 missing buildings.

So far i have noticed the HOMELAND ALLIANCE is a map that comes with the game and no matter what i do to it,even renaming it to STRIKE FIELD,it still did not show up.

I also inserted STRIKE FIELD into the MAP BIG file and after saving it,it does not show up in the official system maps either.

Is there something different in the official maps that once they are removed from the MAP BIG file and edited, they will not show up in either the user maps or the official maps even though you save it in WB to the right folder?

Anyone know why this is happening

Make sure the file has a .YRM extension. For windows XP, if it doesn't, right-click on the file, click properties, and under type of file, make sure it says .YRM; if it doesn't type in .YRM
Hope this works; Bye

For user maps you have to put it in a folder under the map name eg:
Maps\HOMELAND ALLIANCE
and put the map files in there as for official maps you go to the Generals/ZH folder you installed it in create a maps folder if you have not already and then the foldername you saw on XCC Mixer if you use it eg for the shell map it would be (by defult):
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command and Conquer \Maps\ShellMap1\

Hope you understand what I wrote

That the problem, all the maps are in the right folder.HOMELAND ALLIANCE is a map that ships with the game and is in the MAP BIG file.

I extracted it with FINAL BIG,and when i save it ,its saved to where all the user maps are kept, but only this map,is the only one that does not show up.

Even when i renamed it and saved it back into the MAP BIG file, this map does not show up.

Everybodies else's map that i downloaded shows up except this official map, which leads me to believe that system maps, once they are removed from the BIG file will not show up in the game.

I'm going to try to extract other system maps to see if the samething happens.

Try opening it up in WorldBuilder and saving it under System Maps.

 I did, unless i did it wrong, because the only way that i know how to save it under system maps is to save it in the MAP.INI file.

AND IT STILL DOESN'T SHOW so untill someone tells me otherwise, system maps won't work after they are removed from the BIG file.

you can't save a map with the same name as a system or non-official map. change the name. try puttin a hyphen or making it all one word.

HOMELAND ALLIANCE was renamed:

FULL URBAN CONFLICT
FULL URBAN CONFLICT 2
STRIKE FIELD

Same map, different names, none of them show up.

Now as soon as i can get WB working again i will try to extract other system maps to see if they do the same.
