Default finaly some were i might get answers to my problems

:scared: ok i am new at map editing but eager to learn i have made a map which im calling Liberty is Sweet, i have read the tutorial dozens of times and some things i understand but most of it confuses me and i cant seem to make any sense of it. I hope who ever can help me will be able to explain how i go about doing it in detail ie: tell me if i need to make a trigger and what to do in the trigger part tell me if i have to make a script to go with the trigger and what i do in the script and so on im sure you get my gist. Ok here is what i want to do my first problem is this? i want an engineer to capture a building once it is captured you gain either another unit or building ie: simular to a teck building does. I can make the engineer capture the building but i cant seem to figure out why i don't get another building or unit. My other problem is i know is going to be more complicated as im not quite sure it can be done but would be good if it can be. I want either an engineer or a navey seal to be able to capture a civilian luxcarie cruise ship once captured the ship then becomes yours and you will be able to use it to transport your units and vehicles, like you can with a hovercraft except you want be able to go on land of cause but unload your troops off near the shore line. I will be really grateful to anybody that is willing to take the time and effort in explaining in detail how i go about to achieving this if it can be done.

Default can thief steal navey vesels

mmm i couldn't really tell you as i have never had a vehicle thief in any map i have played on yr or ra2 the only game i remember a thief in is ra1 terrain sun or something like that but he could only steal money from the ore refinerys i dont remember him being able to steal vehicles though.I would think not as if my memory sieve's me right the thief can't swim unless you mean when the neval unit is near the shore line and if so i dont understand why you havent tryed to steal a neval unit while you were playing the game as im sure you would of got your answer there and then.I could have this all wrong and what your really asking is it posible to make i thief steal a neval unit.if that is what you really was asking me then again i havent a clue but if you want me to be honest im sure it would be possable to do, as if the thief can steal a land vehicle and as a neval unit is classed as a vehicle so i do see why not, but how to go about making a thief steal navel unit i honestly havent a clue.

T hijacker unit was in Tiberian Sun, and as far as i know the logic still exists in RA2/YR so essentially yes a hijacker would be able to steal a naval unit. But, to make him swim would require adding new frames to his SHP and editing his sequence and changing his locomotor(?) and/or movement type.

:tard: I was just thinking what game are you talking about RA1 or RA2 OR RY as like i said before the only time i have had a thief was in RA1 Terrain sun.If you are talking about RA2 or YR i would be very greatful if you could send me or tell me were i can get RA2 or YR with a vehicle thief in as like i said before a have never seen a vehicle thief in RA2 or RY so i am puzzeled.

RA1 has a Theif in multiplay/skirmish -- it stole money from refineries and silos.

TS has a Vehicle Theif ( the "Mutant Hijacker" ) -- it steals vehicles.

WW tends to leave old logic left over from older games in the engine...I don't know if they continued the trend with Generals.

It would take a little work. The vehicle theif logic is still in YR. Thank you WW/EA for not removing that logic.

I think one of Deezire's tutorials explains how to put the Vehicle thief into RA2/YR.

They did with TS and RA2 but its very unlikely they did it with Generals, its not WW who made it for a start.

U can make a vehicle thief by adding the following lines to an infantry type :

Infiltrate=yes
Thief=yes
VehicleThief=yes

i didn't tried but think u can make a seal as hijacker so that he can steal both land and naval vehicle types

I can understand what u say about map triggers. I didn't do any map ever but i read some tutorials those r written for novices. May b u have to put a celltag inside the building u attempt to capture with engineer. Now make a trigger that will b fired when the engineer will pass/enter the celltag. That trigger can b made for a reinforcement or to change a building's ownnership.

I just remembered, if you make a Seal, or anything else with Sapper as its secondary weapon, a Vehicle Thief, you must remove the sapper weapon from it.
