Default EUREKA!!! ATTENTION GMAX & 3DS2VXL OWNERS!

There IS a way to turn GMAX files into vxls! Successfully! All you need is GMAX, the md3 export utility, 3d explore, and 3ds2vxl. With the utility, you export as a quakeIII model, then use 3d explore to convert it into .3ds! Then convert the 3ds into a voxel, and viola!
Here are the necessary links you need to know (assuming you know where to get GMAX and 3ds2vxl from )
3D Explore

You can also use the Tempest Gamepack if you wish.

Let me know if you have any problems. Also, you can make this sticky if it's of any importance.

Maybe we have a similar method of doing this with Flyby's voxelizer script.

Correcto Stampedo. Although. I havent tried this method out. I think I will just to see if it does more then what it does with my method which is finally stickied. WOOHOO.

I downloaded all the programs I need but the link for the md3 doesnt work!!!!. I also decided to look for it on webcrawler and I found a md3 thing but when gmax loads its says that it failed to initialize?!?!?!?!? Daz or Zero-Point, could one of you send the md3 exporter to my email at iwillmurderyou@rock.com ????

Go to Gmax's website. They have the Tempest gamepack there. That's what you need. Also, you need to skin the models, otherwise they become gray when you convert them to vxl. Also, I don't think it exports animations... But, in that case, there's another FREE 3d modeling program called anim8or. It's a little harder to use than GMax, but it exports as 3ds!

Well I actually did find a md3 exporter. so Im good on that. Im also planning on checking out that anim8or. it sounds interisting.

I never had any luck with FlyBy's script. The last number is always "undefined", and I'd rather not just put something there then have to go recolor it manually. That and some voxels are too big to copy/paste the whole thing in .txt, since the stupid viewer only lets you select some of it.
