Default Editing Loading screen background

I just finished editing my new sides, and their flags (thx to Kravvitz), but now :

How do you change the background of the loading screen of each country ?
I already search the forum but didn't find any answer.

I tried to make a screen capture, but it only gets a Black Screen (as if it was displaying a movie).I tried to extract and edit the background from loadmd.mix, but cannot find/use the corresponding pal :
- Photoshop say it's an invalid .pal
- Photo Shop Pro 8 can only import .psp files)

So plz, be and help me !
if you can tell me what's the prob (good), give me useable backgrounds (better), or have the time to explain me how to get one (best), would be grateful... :S

To make a new loading screen:

1. use xcc mixer to open ra2.mix=>load.mix
2. choose the one u need to edit (note: the loading screen naming is like thie ls-resoulution-countryname..i.e. the loading screen for cuba in 640x480 screen resoultion is ls640cuba 0000.shp) then choose 'Copy as PCX'
3. also extract the palette file used for the loading screens
4. edit the PCX file
5. apply the loading screen's palette to it
6. use the xcc mixer to convert it back by clicking on 'Convert to SHP(TS)'

now you got yourself a new loading screen

I finally understood how to change pal with XCC Mixer....
stupid little thing...

So I succeeded in changing the background, but still don't know why I can't open or use palettes from loadmd.mix.... I tried to copy it in Pal Jasc, coz I don't know what's this, but no improvement.
I'm stuck after extracting it, coz I can't apply new palettes when editing the files which use the default one. (says invalid pal)

not a big deal if nobody answer me, as I already found how to make the BG in an other way. I just want to understand how Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro works with Palettes extracted from ra2md.mix

different programs encode palletes in different ways. JASC (PSP) has one way, PS has another, and RA2/YR uses a third.

I don't understand what your problem is exactly.

the problem is ra2 uses JASC palletes by default, Adobe wont read this palletes correctly, it will give you the message "The palette you selected is not a Microsoft palette"..so he need some Adobe PS palettes..and i gave him the link for it.

ummm...no. RA2 uses it's own kind of palette, XCC Mixer allows you to convert that type of palette to the JASC type. For Photoshop you either have to download the palettes from PIXLEOPS or extract the palettes from images.

geez... forget about it..
am totally lost, so don't bother trying to explain how does PSP or PS work with palettes.

anyway, Kravvitz got it right 'bout the message : "The Palette you selected is not a valid Microsoft Palette"
Might use to have the same prob...

k, for the last try, i'll go check what pixelops links to, and try to understand (if there's anything to understand) smth which ain't really a prob. thx for help anyway
