Really BASIC rulesmd.ini question !
just wanna know why sometimes there is :
Owners=British,French,etc..... (all)
ForbiddenHouses=French
OR
Owners=British, French,etc... (all)
RequiredHouses=French
OR
Owners=British (only)
ForbiddenHouses=French,Americans,etc... (all others)
Can someone give me an example where Owners really IS essential ??

It's an Allied building, but the French cannot build it. They can capture it though.

It's an Allied Building and only the French can build it. (I.E. Grand Cannon) Using this code and the code above for AMRADR and GAAIRP gives the Americans the ability to build the American Air Force command instead of the regular Air HQ.

Essentially, that code is basically the same as the French code above, I've never noticed much difference.
As for when Owners is really essential, I hear tell that it is related to the "New Construction Options" bug, where the AI repeats that over and over. I usually sign up Yuri on all Yuri techs as the only owner, All Allied on any Allied Tech, and All Soviets on any Soviet Tech. From there, you should be able to restrict access with Tech levels and Forbidden/RequiredHouses=. I wouldn't know if it really cures the bug though, since I removed that sound bite a long time ago.

Owners is essential. If you don't have it listed or all the countries listed, you get the New Construction Options bug.
In response, yes, YOU NEED IT!

the entries speak for themselves..
RequiredHouses=
British,French,Germans,Americans,Alliance. even though this country entries exist in the Owner= entry, it is to indicate that it is owned by the Allied Forces (Side) and a specific country can build a specific unit that is unique to that country specified..
example: Korea (Alliance) can only build the Black Eagle..Germany (Germans) can only build the Tank Destroyer.etc..
Owner= is to indicate the list of countries that represent a Side..
example: GDI=British,French,Germans,Americans,Alliance
NOD=Russians,Africans,Confederation,Arabs
meaning..
that the GDI is the Allied Forces and
the NOD is the Soviet Forces..
and Yuri (the new third faction in YR) known in the rulesmd.ini as YuriCountry represents the ThirdSide= ..

So can't you just keep things simple and say Owner=GDI or something? (Probably not I guess)

if you don't mind FYI that RA2 and YR are using modified TS engine..GDI is used to denote as Aliies and NOD as to Soviet..this entries exist for the sole purpose of identifying the countries that is affiliated with the Side..unlike in Red Alert 1..the Owner= entry is always Allies,Soviet..easy doesn't it? but as i said it is used to denote a side..not a country..in RA2 and YR..
use that entry in your mod and see what happens..

No, you can't. I once simply copied TS unit statistics into RA2, leaving Owner=GDI,Nod. And nobody could build them... And yes, they were included in the [types] lists

First, by (all), I meant ALL sides (or for puralists each and every sides)
But this ain't the prob, i guess.
Second, if I just restrict Owners to the Side of the specified country, will others sides be able to build them if they capture them with an engineer ??
Third, mainly this is what I was asking for, coz till now I never encounter the New Construction Option Bug. Could I have more details about it?

AFAIK If you just put allied sides as owner then all the allied sides will be able to build it, but the soviets will not ever be able to even if they capture the prequisite. If you give it an allied prequisite but only soviet owners then only the soviets will be able to build it if they capture the required structures. Using a combination of owner, prequisite and forbiddenhouses you can do very interesting things with the build trees.
The 'new construction options' bug is literally that, no matter what you build, tank, plane, infantry, building EVA, Zophia, or Yuri will keep telling you that you have new construction options. Its not such a fatal bug but it does piss you off after a short (very short) period of time.
