Default Weird soviet prerelease transport?

In the intro movie for RA2, there is a shot of a soviet transport that digs across the ground with screws instead of being a hovercraft. (I'm not talking about anything subterrainian here. Watch the intro if you don't understand). I remember reading somewhere about how to do that in a mod, but I forgot where I read it and what to do. what do you do to have a screw transport like that?

You are refering to the Corkscrew Transport (I think that is what it is called.). It is also found in some pre-release screenshots. I am not entirely certain how it was meant to work exactly but I believe that it was basically a glorified version of the TS GDI Amphibious Transport, a unit which had two images: one for water and oen for land. I think it was meant to be something along those lines but with the corkscrew vehicle graphic. Can't be sure though...

Anyway, if it is supposed to operate on that system, then to recreate it, you need two graphics for the vehicle. The water graphic must be named APCW and the land one must be named APC. Do not name them anything else. The game is hardcoded to use those for this logic. With art and art.ini entries done, make your rules.ini entry for the transport. I don't think you need two separate rules entries for the two versions.

If it's not supposed to use that system, oh well. I must be thinking of something else. There's always the possibility of just making it have one image and make it a non-hovering transport that is set to go on land and water. That's another possibility.

Did anyone ever make a Corkscrew Transport voxel? I know most/all of the other pre-release voxels have been made based off screenshots.

Thanks for the info. And I think someone might have made one, but maybe I was just looking at some prerelease screenshots.

That system is inoperational in RA2 and YR. Well, at least none of us got it to work yet...

The transport was used in RA1 and Renegade, but never used in RA2/YR.

There's more info about the APC in DeeZire's RA2/YR modding encyclopedia.
