I love the second (actual first) one, already saw it at PixelOps...yet I just noticed that only the second locomotive has a...yeah...where's my dictionary...hang on a sec...k...isn't in there...the "thing that looks like an antenna and takes power from the power cables that normally are above tracks (in real life)"...

So, why is it only on one part of the train? Artistic purposes or some other reason?

The power pick up is called a pentagram or power pick up. Also can be other name around the world.
If you look closely at the second unit there is a cover outline. (Not well depicted.)

If you look at a real trains there will only be one pick up in position. This is do to a problem with electricity creating a current loop between the two connections and causing an out of phase problem. Lets just say there is a problem having both of them up.
