Default Alternate Image

In artmd.ini there is a flag 'AltImage='
How does it work?

Supposedly, it makes the enemy see a different image to what the owner sees.
Will this work for BuildingTypes? How do I make it work? I've been trying several things but have been unsuccessful thus far.

Hmm...looks like it's not listed in xgamer's guide...might be a bad sign...or he's just a slacker...

To the tag: From the description, it looks rather simple. So if you tried it, and it didn't work yet, it's rather probable that it's obsolete. Might be risidual from Red Alert or something. Or weird stuff from the betas.

I know it's a stupid question, but just to be sure: You did test this in a multiplayer-game, didn't you?

Of course!

The limited info says something about frame#2, but that is used for damage on buildings.
AltImage is used in the rules I think, on infantry units so it probably doesn't work for buildings even if it isn't obsolete.

This means I'm gonna have to resort to having a building that's invisible to both the enemy and the owner

Alt image is indeec 2 frames stuff according to art.ini. I guess it wont work. Or ony by disabling damage frames perhaps

I heared that if you use "Altimage= " frame#2 will be shown to enemy and frame#3 will be damage frame of the building

I put a special image in frame 1 and 2 (i.e. the second and third frames) and a normal image in frame 0.

My human opponent could see frame 0 just as I could.



Daedalus, did you come up with anything?


For those who are wondering, I am trying to make the mine layer land mines invisible to the enemy (without causing an RE).

Reconnection Error (network/internet games only - problems that cause RE's don't cause errors in single player.)
DeeZire's mine layer (and my current one) cause RE's and I'm trying to fix it. This means no logical invisibility.
At the moment, I can't even get graphical invisibility (at least, not without the owner not being able to see the mine either)
