Default DRON-->infantry conversion

I can see in the logs that there was once A) a conversion of DRON to infantry types, B) someone claimed to once have a sequence for it. Only the sequence in question was posted in something that was lost when Deezire lost a disk or something...

Does anyone happen to know of a dron infantry anywhere?

Um, you'd need to reorder the SHP frames to do that. Vehicles' shp frames are rotated clockwise, infantry - counter-clockwise. Then you can try adding a sequence to it.

Actually, I saw that comment in the histories as well. I guess I can do that, it's not really that hard once you extract. More of a headache, than anything. Know of any tool that lets you simply move them around? The only way I currently know how to do that is to extract them with XCC mixer, put them into a directory and hand-type their sequences. Either OS SHP editor doesn't do it, or I'm just stupid.

Anyway, do you happen to know somewhere this has already been done?

I'm asking, because I don't even /know/ if I want this. It's an experiment.

My /main/ reason for doing it is that DRON is small, and infantry occupies 4 per square. I can get a lot more of these guys without congesting the base, IOW.

For fun, I simply flipped over the locomotor and the movement zone. Strangely, this worked. So it appears that the manner in which infantry does the four-per-cell thing is locomotor related and not infantry-versus-vehicle related.

("Worked" is a relative thing; I had some animation issues, but otherwise it "worked")

Since you can make a tank into an infantry can anyone give me tips on making a shp tank?

It's more work than it's worth unless you want to paradrop a tank.

No, he said it backwards. For some reason he wants to creat a shp vehicle.

I'm going the other way (from a fairly simply shp vehicle) to a shp infantry, on the grounds that I get four per cell that way.

Base congestion is one of the big bugga-boos of the AI, so I'm solving that with a variety of tricks. Having the dron come out of the barracks is no big deal, really, although it does mean you can't make drones and infantry simultaneously....

My current test version has 72 vehicles and 32 infantry in the AI's base without any congestion. Or notable lag. Check out the screen snappies over at cannis/RedUtils forum in the "teaser" thread.

I understand what you and he said. You just don't understand what I said.

I am saying the the only reason to make a SHP vehicle is so that you can paradrop it.

Courageous, you are trying to convert a SHP vehicle to an infantry which is different.

Oh. I didn't know that you could paradrop a SHP vehicle. I thought it had to be infantry. I tried dropping DRONs once, and they misbehaved.

Kravvitz means you may covent vehicles to an infantry to paradrop them
And shp vehicles are not paradroped
