Default I lost my mod!

Well, here is my story. I suggest you to read it about two times, since it is pretty complex (even if it is in chronological order) and because probably you wont understand a thing of what I am saying

Once upon a time, about on Feb 2004 I started working on a new Red Alert 2 mod. After 7 days of hard work i resigned to continue, since there were impossible problems everywhere. But it was becoming a good mod.

Then about on July 2004 I decided to "repair" this mod (after having became more experienced than before) and I worked for about 3 weeks. I inserted my first voxels, I solved many bugs; it was becoming pretty fun. However I was tired. My voxels were only monocolor (since GMax exports models only with one colour), so I tried to find a good vxl program to paint them. After 5 days of continue research (and terrible downloaded programs) I decided to restart modding "on a undefined date".

It's about on September that I installed Norton Antivirus 2004 on my newest computer. What does it mean? It means that all files eliminated from now on are eliminated forever, without chance of retrieving them.

A - B - C

December 1st. I changed computer. My oldest computer A (after backuping files) goes away, the new one B became "the oldest one" and takes the zone of computer A and the last one C takes the zone of the newly-transferred computer B.

On computer B (where the mod was resident), I backuped my files because I was planning to format the computer. The mod was included in the backup. Then I eliminated (through Norton Delete) all the other useless files. Today I still have to format this computer.

Just yesterday 5 January 2005 I decided for the second time to reinstall Red Alert 2 (and to re-join Deezire forum), and I discovered that I backuped an old version of my mod, and i eliminated the latest one!

So, I know there are programs to retrieve files from the recycle bin. But are there programs able to retrieve files from the norton Recycle Bin? Or my mod is forever lost?

...The Story Continues...

If you used norton wipeinfo it is most likely that anything you whiped is unrecovarable but if you erased it thru windows without the aid of another program you can easily use norton unerase to recover it. I have used it many times and rarely it didn't work.

So there is still Hope

thx for replying.

This is the problem.
I always deleted files from the Norton Recycle Bin (which is Norton Unerase), not from the standard one. However I never used norton Wipeinfo. Any idea?

You can get a small program that can reactivate an entire HDD from Fat32 or NTFS into a folder, as i lost a full 80gb HDD of downloads and music, and one of my friends used it and got about 99% of my data back. I cant remember the name of it, but it has an icon of a life belt, you know one of those white and red rings. But other than that, there are a few free ones out there that you could prob search for on google, under File Recovery???

This is probably completely off-topic, but about 80 Gig HDDs.... I bought one the other day and when I got home I found it was actually a 160 GB HDD!!! Maybe it's double sided or something, but the point is I was charged for an 80 Gig one. Bargain! I also bought an AMD Athlon 64 3000 CPU, a Gigabyte Dual BIOS MB, and 512 DDR RAM. Yes, I've been busy over the last few days

Next on the list is more RAM, a 128MB or 256MB GPU and a DVD ReWriter. Which will hit my wallet rather hard

Ontrack is incredibily good but its trial edition doesn't allow to save the lost files. I need some freeware program, or some trial program which allows to save files, maybe for just 30 days. Thank you anyway. Now I'm searching on google.

@ Whiteboy, would you be so kind to send me the Cargo Voxel? At least I'll retake a piece of my work!

Files retrieved with GetDataBack of Runtime Software! It was difficult (I had to search one-by-one my files and copy-paste them under a text-editor) but now I can continue my work. Thank you all!
