The EULA actually prevents creating derivative works which every mod would fall under. It will be interesting to see if a modified exe with an extra country is successful. The game uses arrays to decide what assets are used by what country and normally the internal array only has assests for up to 10 countries listed. The order of the country list decides what country has what assets (the first on the list always gets the american assets for instance). Any chance of modifying the ion cannon supwer weapon type back in there so it can be used as a targetable superweapon?

@ DCoder:
Thanks for that patchmaker link I'm going to use it by now.

@ Renegade:
I'll take the license stuff as an information

@ Blade:
No idea I didn't care of superweapons yet.
As for the array stuff,

@ AlliedG:
Damnit you're right, the baseunit's really a problem...

...I did the loading screen stuff.
The game now loads, but for whatever reason the background image doesn't appear while loading. :/
But I'll care of this later.

The game starts now, but you lost once it started because there's no MCV (baseunit).
Seems to be a bit more tricky... but not impossible.

I made up a small homepage, this time you can even find what you're searching for

URL is http://www.yr-adv-mods.de.tt/.
That page is gonna grow with the time because this is only a beginning of my projects (at least I'm planning to do more stuff).

I'll make the patch soon, it's not possible now because I don't have the files here (still got no internet connection at home :flame: )

Check out the mappack available on my homepage, too

Ah and before I forget that,
could someone upload the unmodified English string table (ra2md.csf) for me so I can do my future work in English?
Or send it via eMail.
Would be nice

CSF sent via email (this board does not allow attachments ).
(Btw, could you increase the height of the mainframe of your page? It only reaches a half of the screen.)

And there's one more proof that WW sucked at coding. Any country should get it's MCV and stuff assigned depending on its Side= statement, regardless of it's number in the list :S

Thanks very much for the stringtable

Yes that really sucks...

But I think it's because there're 5 sides in fact:
GDI, Nod, ThirdSide, Neutral and Mutant (I just dunno why they're there).

Neutral and Mutant don't have baseunits either, although they have countries...

mutant is special actually and those sides have specific logic attached to them. BTW, countries do get their base unit assigned by their allocated Side=, even in specific game modes. My 'Classic Mode' test uses this to turn Yuri into a soviet side completely (obeys Soviet AI scripts that are not country specific and such). I presume you put the new country on the Owner= lists for all of yuris stuff pd?

Even though it has been hinted at you should also run a rule.ini file with the new contry, probly some of the problems you have are part of that; the loading screen and the mcv.

:lol: Funny, but nothing of what we all thought was the real problem...

The loading screen:
The palette's file name was typed wrong... :S

-> Works now!

The MCV:
Well, just set TestCountry as an Owner of the PCV (Yuri MCV)

-> Works now!

So you see, what was wrong was my stupidity...

=> NEW COUNTRY: WORKS NOW!!!

Yep, you can play with it!
It's the same as YuriCountry though, but you can give it special weapons etc - just like any other country.

The only thing I have to do now is to get it work for AI players.
If any AI player is the new country, an error occurs after loading.

After fixing this it's easy to add more countries.

You can get the patch here.
(Even with an English string table thx DCoder again)

Ah yes and if I manage to fix all that and when I'm ready to add countries, what countries do you think should I add?

I thought of two additional countries for both Allied and Soviets (Yuri doesn't need any I think):
Spain and Italy for the Allied,
China and Northern Korea for the Soviet...
