Good Looking SHPs & Vxls

I'm realizing a mod and it's finally starting to become a "quite serious" one. On the Art & Models progress, it has got about 10 new shp (all cameos, not considering the veteran ones) and 7 new vxl, all downloaded from Internet and adapted to my uses. Now that I possess enough knowledge to build shps and vxls (thanks to OS Shp Builder and GMax), I'm wondering how do you DeeZire guys make so good-looking cameos or vxl, so similar (for the amount of detalis) as the original Red Alert 2 ones.

For gfx, I used PSP and am currently using Photoshop for cameos, and I do my voxels in 3D, then convert them via 3ds2vxl (gives perfect normals).

Whichever programs you use, you can't be sure of getting such good-looking results. That comes with skill and experience - in general graphics editing as well as experience with RA2/YR. Just do your best. After some time, you'll get better and better at it. This takes a lot of dedication and motivation. Advice from people who have found effective ways to do certain things can speed things up, but I would not know where to find such advice at the moment.
