gamemd.exe hacked - thread 2!
The End, how can I put this? fuck off.
pd, and all, if this amazing work by good people (esp. pd) is not welcome at DeeZire, we should consider starting a new thread over at C-GEN.
If you wanna keep it out of the main RA2/YR editing forum by all means place it in the Purple Alert forum - I'll sticky it and prune any spam.

Nah, not C-GEN. C-GEN'S not guest-friendly. Better my place. The official refugee-home for fed up DeeZire-visitors. I've been planning to lure you all there for quite some time now, but due to my comp being dead, I wasn't able to do a decent skin yet. Anyway, http://forums.renegadeprojects.com if we need to go somewhere else. RA2/YR-section is clearly marked, and it's right next to the ModEnc-forums. Plus, I'm the admin. I decide who's moderating, and I decide what's locked and what's not.
You're all welcome, as long as you keep the bad spamming down.

@ The End:
You're right, yes.
BUT: Even just modding is illegal, so why should it be more illegal to modify the exe?

Theoretically, I can understand his position - as he said, he has to check with DeeZire, as the board's owner, whether to keep that discussion open or not. Otherwise, DZ could get in trouble. I, however, as my boards owner, can assure you that I won't close the thread

After all, it's non-commercial, and doesn't interfere with copy protection.

I agree. But DeeZire hasn't stated his opinion yet. And that's the important thing here.

While DeeZire is about modding CnC and we're not trying to discourage that it is clearly in black and white in the RA2/YR EULA:
Quote:

You also may not copy, modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works of, publicly perform, publicly display, distribute, transmit, decompile, disassemble or otherwise reverse engineer or attempt to reverse engineer or derive source code from, all or any portion of the Product or anything incorporated therein, including any screen display, sound or accompanying documentation, or permit or encourage any third party to do so.

Which is why I need DZ to check it over as it's his ass that gets in trouble over this if EA decide to use their legal hammer, and what tney mean is modifying the hardocded sections of the game, they're hardcoded for a reason. Discussion over and may I add you're not helping your cause by trying to circumvent my or any other moderators decision.

We here at DeeZire do not discourage modification and all works that help aid the mod effort.
However, There is a very clear line between Modding, and Hacking.
Modding, is the alteration of a games system without alteration to its core code [ I.E. the .exe files ]
Hacking, is the alteration of the files that is explicitly not allowed by the E.U.L.A. It can be a great tool, and can do much more amazing things then simple modding, However it is very much a legal issue. An issue that only the person whom's name is on the server will be forced to deal with.
Thusly, We put these topics on hold until such time as DeeZire can review it because, if legal issues were to fall from it, DeeZire and DeeZire alone would be the one whom would be in the crosshairs.
So, it is his choice and his alone weither or not to allow such topics on the this site.
