Wordpad carries functions that you do not need for ini editing. Things like different fonts and bold text. Notepad however is the perfect platform for raw, simple text editing. And the ini files are raw, simple text files - nothing more. That's why I use notepad.

i started on 98SE, so the rules would load in wordpad when you tried to load it in notepad, but the reason it is so much better is the features select and drag, instead of needing to cut and paste, you can simply drag and drop it to move code, and the search function is far more user friendly, you can also hold alt and use the wheel on your mouse to resize text. use it in the ANSI/ASCII mode and its basicly the same as notepad, but with a few enhancements.
as for colours, yes, i like colours in my code when i'm programming, but ini editing is hardly complex enough to require it...

CTRL+C and CTRL+V?
Cut&Paste is much more comfortable than drag&drop IMO.
The search function is just a basic search for something above or below your current position. It's much better than a huge search window with thousands of options.
You can change the text size/font in Notepad as well.
I see no reason why you'd change it while reading an INI file (as the INIs doesn't have different font sizes).

I wonder what you'll be saying once I finish this ...
btw, I use EditPad, because it supports \n and \t in search/replace. Helps me quite a lot.

the best part about wordpad search is that you don't need to specify up or down, just search, if its not down, it restarts and searches the top down to where you are. good if you don't know if its before or after where you currently are.

Actually, I find that to be a bad feature. I very often am searching for a particular tag in a unit that I know is near the code I am currently viewing. Searching up and down means I know where I'll be after the search is done. With Wordpad however, it could just put you anywhere in that rules file and you then have to figue out where you are...
I also do not like drag-dropping. I can much better see what's going on with the easier-to-use (IMO) CTRL+C/P.

Copy-printing?
How hard is it to remember? Cut - copy - paste. [Ctrl+] X - C - V. Look at the keyboard if you didn't get it yet.
