good things to place on a mod site include:
Download of the mod
list of the most important features of your mod
complete list of everything your mod changes
outlines of new tech trees
mod "story" IE how do you get to your mod from YR, or is it a TC?
screen shots
progress reports(not so interesting, but keeps people from asking WHEN questions)
any new game modes?
1 of the best ways i've seen is to encorperate several of those into 1, ie, place a picture of the unit in with its name, and a brief description of what it is on your tech tree lists.

I think what bobing means is post as much as possible. Go ahead and give the community a better idea of what youve done so far. Heck, even if you just post "Tested out a new 'super' weapon, but it caused an ie so i'm still working on it." Post what you do on a daily bases or atleast every third day so the community can see the mod is alive and "watch" it develope and grow into the grand game it is being claimed to be.
As soon as I'm done engineering the site I will give the community a link to show exactly what i'm talkin about.

I think that best way is to make mod first, then worry about it's site

Hell if we did that, worried about the site after the mod, lol, we wouldnt have got anythin done on the site, yet alone be known some where. :P the main thing is that if you get a site up, and start releasing small betas and ask questions you can get the comunities ideas. But as bobing said, Do what you can do, plcae in what you plan, and make some concepts up, we did. Draw what you can, have a few ideas jotted around of what is for what side, make some Mokup things. You know just build it up like a "Tree", a "Cake" or a mod. It will take time, and a site will take time to buildup as well, yet alone get one that everyone likes, and knows how to navigate. lol

No, Speeder is right. Too many sites for mods that never get done.

I could make a rather long list of such mods, which are presented on forums or have their sites, but never get released... That's why I think site isn't most important thing. And as far as community ideas are concerned, you can make a topic on one of community forums, but you shouldn't promise too much and show too much stuff until you'll be sure that you WILL release mod.
BTW When I first read title of topic I thought that author meant 'How to become admin of community site' :P

I agree the site isn't the most important thing to the mod (obviously the rules.ini is ) but I think its better to have a more stable place to post about your mod than the forums, even if you fail to ever release it. Your ideas and accomplishments may inspire the newbs. Besides, if the mod never gets posted, it isn't like the community was paying for the site anyway.
