Well, Mechs are just plain cool. I can see them being used...eventually. The only thing is, every country would want one (just to be advanced) so then we would all be equal again, making us research better ways of making them move, cool off and whatever else they'd want. That's why in Mechwarrior, they made most of the mechs very maneuverable, and amored enough to where they can take beatings from vehicles. The problem I see is the powerehouse. Unless we can figure out cold fusion, mechs are doomed.

if its to get over terrain that tracks can't get you over, try hovercraft, they'll do all those, except mountains.

Altight, a walker would be practical in situations that necessitate navigating or securing mountainous areas. But that's it.

What what what? I guess mechs are cool in its appearance. But they look kind of silly when coming out from War Factories and look kind of Mazinger Z when walking.

its also useful for wading through lots of water, also shouldn't a walker be able to carry more weapons.

It's already been established that a hovercraft or hovercraft transport is the solution to waterlogged terrain. And sure, a walker can carry more weapons - if it's as big as a hangar.
