heya guys, as u can tell by now im new to this, and i want to be able to make mods, i have ideas and stuff, but i need a push in the right direction on how to do things (e.g) what utilities i might need and things along the lines, help me out here :S

well, utilities: Final Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge (google for it), the editting encyclopedia, RedUtils , and the XCC stuff. You can get alot from RA2Faq aswell. I know I missed alot, but that is some of the stuff you will need.
The XCC stuff is all on RA2Faq. So is Final Alert 2.

Uhh, good luck! The very best thing to do at the moment would be to edit only the rulesmd.ini file. It's easy to understand (mostly) and you can do a lot of modifications with that file alone. You just edit it and save it in your RA2 folder. You'll find the file (and all the other ini files) in a special YR ini download at www.cncgames.com. Happy modding!
