Irrelevant to the question asked and not to bright.... guess who just added to ignore list

Anyway I find it easier to just take a screenshot of the ingame menu and use it as an template. When I feel satisfied I cut it accordingly to the sidebar (buttons etc). It helps if your photo editing application can work with layers. The full process is just like when you work on any other shp you just keep track of where every button goes and so on. I wish I could give you more advice but I have only made 2 sidebars and my knowledge is restricted to that

Ok since this topic was revived by my ''friendly'' pal I will ask something else I had never understood in RA2.
Why for adding a new aircraft I must have an Image= tag in the coding of the unit? I see it unecessary but my aircrafts dont work without it. Im not totally sure if it needs an image because I think the black eagle doesnt have one, but as I said, my aircrafts dont work without it.

I think the image just points to the corresponding entry in the art.ini and the entry can only be ommited if the rules and art entries are named alike

BTW is this an ingame shot of your sidebar?

hey, thats a nice edit, shame it won't actually look like that ingame.

take a look at ra2.mix>sidec02.mix

thats your template mix.

delete the following files from there:

power.shp (TS power down button)
pwrlvl.shp (seems blank)
radar01.shp (some TS GUI SHPs)
radar02.shp
wayp.shp (TS waypoint button)

and look at the rest, everything but the menu backgrounds is in the same pallete (Except the radar if its for yuri) the credits always go in the box labeled credits.

ok, maybe now you could refine your sidebar a little and make a new 1 that ROCKS!

erm, allies use a unique button size and layout, so, if its for allies use sidec01.mix as a template, soviets, yuri, or extra sides, use sidec02.mix as a template.

From the look of it you have to stick with the allieds sidebar or redo it, bobing is right about that part. Most people actually do start off with an ingame screenshot, it is better to see the complete image and cut it accordingly. You do need to know which side it belongs to before you start (a piece of information I forgot to mention sorry about that it was quite late when I typed it).

This is how I do it when the main part is done.

Create a new palette file (decrease the colors to 256 in paint shop pro). Save the palette and press shift+p this will bring up the palette so you can edit it. Change the index1 to RGB 255 0 255 (this will be the transparent color). Save the palette again but not the image, open the image again and apply the palette and save the image you can now create a new palette to be used for your ingame menu and it won´t have any problems with the index1 in your palette. Use xcc mixer to copy it as your new palette, this palette should also be in the new sidec01.mix when you are done.

Extract all of the corresponding frames from the sidec01.mix, open the first frame lets say you start with "side1" you will now know that the frame is 168x69 in size select the exact same size in your new sidebar image and cut it. Press paste it into a new image and apply the palette, save the image as "side1". Repeat the process until all of the frames are done.

Hey thanks alot form the sidebar tips, coolio.
Anyways, I need to know about other's opinions, the thing is that I made a voxel to replace the Rhino and I dont know if it fits.... Im stuck, I had already made three voxels and i didnt liked any of them, here's my more recent one. I guess it has too much small and nasty details, should I erase them, keep them or made a whole new voxel for it?
