Lol. Thats one to do it! I'm looking at what I can change them into. Any
ideas? I have some superweapon related news that I'll share tomorrow.
It should make AlliedG and some of the others happy, as it splits the
teams apart more. Related to this announcement , I need some help if
anyone will give me some. I need to know how to change the evamd file.
Where do I put this file when I've changed it? And how can I reactivate
unsed voices, like when paratroopers are ready and the force shield has
been activated or change what voices are used for superweapons? I'll
probably have more questions tommorrow. Any help would be
appreciated. I may also have screenshots if everything goes well.

Doesn't the Rock Patch hack the exe? I know it works, but I'm not really a big fan
of hacking the game. When I used that patch before, it messed my game up(some
sounds weren't working, I was starting with units I shouldn't have been able to, the
Nuke made the game crash, etc.). I had to totally reinstall the game to fix it. The
Rock Patch is something I'd like to use because it would make my job easier, but
just doesn't seem to work right when I use it.... Thanks for the help
though.

old versions of the patch were unstable, but since 1.05b things have been a heck of a lot better, 1.06, the version available now is almost bug-free. theres a 1.07 beta floating around for the soul purpose of working out the bugs before he releases it.
the patch does come winth a restore features, so you shouldn't need to re-install. but, just incase, you can backup gamemd.exe and restore it if anything goes wrong, thats the only file changed by the patch.
and the term "Hacker" is ugly, thats not really whats going on here, its patching. optimising on the machine code level.

Saying you are "patching" or "optimising" the original code is an insult to the developers, and it's also just plain wrong. The Rock Patch is not a patch. A "Patch" can be described as a "fix". What PD did is NOT a "fix", it is, by all means, a "hack". He used a hex editor to look at the code, and then he changed it, which is illegal. He may have made it possible to do great things, but I think if he read this now, he'd agree with me - what he has done is "hacking", by all means.

hacking is defined as breaking your way into someone elses computer.
yes, i agree w ith what you are saying that its not really a patch. but its more of a patch than a hack. its more of a crack than anything, but thats definitly an insult to PD. for 1 he hates crackers, because they watse their tallent making no-CD patches, or turning demos into full versions.
wait, did i say no-CD patch? its by no means an official patch, but its still a patch!
so, RockPatch, IS A PATCH!, just not an official 1.

Yes, but "patch" means to fix something, not to improve it. The very name "patch" comes from the idea of patching-up torn clothes, i.e., fixing somthing that has broken. The RP improves the game (well, that's the idea anyway). To call it a patch suggests PD has fixed a bug.
I would more accurately call it an "exe mod", even if it's not your usual mod. "Crack" is also accurate but for the same reason as you, I didn't call it that before. To use the garments example, what he has done here is not to fix the clothes, but to mod them with some dye and... ribbons and stuff.
Yes, he put ribbons on YR...

well, PD chose to call it a patch. TTDPatch developers decided to call their edits a patch too.
I'd say its PD's choice, and he calls it a patch, so...

The Rock Patch is a hack. This because it doesn't fix anything, like a patch.
Anyway, I'll release my mod update later today. I'm posting now because I need
help. Can you make a building spawn ground units? Can anything spawn ground units? The tests I've done so far have been with buildings spawning and
have all failed, the units just run off the map and then the game crashes. I was going to
use the spawned units to carry a new superweapon to the target, then kill itself and
deploy the true weapon in the process. This would give the player an idea when
the weapon is ready because the building has pips to show when spawned units are
ready to launch. Is there any way to have spawned units use a suicide weapon,
thus using the superweapon?
Thanks for the help.
