Ok , You cant help because you dont know anything about the problems im experiencing , fair enough , makes sense.

'Wash' You guys with an excuse ? i didnt intend to , just telling you why i Didnt buy the game in the 1st place .

And actually as it goes i didnt actually use a crack , The game was transferred straight from another hard drive .. and looking in the folder i cant see any cracks .
But still as you says thats not the point ... i didnt pay for it bla bla i havnt got the box an cds an all that shite that takes up space .

i shall carry on playing YR as it is ... ill buy it when i really want to make some maps . ( and ive got some money)

well, unless the game was cracked, trying to run the game would prompt for a CD.
also, FA2 should still work, because AFAIK, the RA2.mix should be left un-modified by a crack, and thats all that FA2 looks for. that and a mod.

Umm... you can't play YR without the registry entries. Simply copying the game from another computer/disk drive won't work. Unless it's cracked.
You don't need to 'see' a crack for it to be there. Most cracks work by modifying existing files, not adding new ones.

And you did say a few posts ago "Yeah im using a cracked version ."

Anyway, I've said my piece. You might be able to get others to help you, but in general you'll find that we like to rule out common causes before devoting more time to a problem

Well, I think I can help with this, mostly just because I *used* to run off a cracked version, aswell. I don't anymore, cause I couldn't play online. Although there were cracks available for that too.

So, heres my answer (but remember, it will not be step-by-step, i have not used FA in a while ):

Download a new version of ra2.mix from the internet. Maybe even track down a registry entering file, i forget what they are called- they end in .reg.
Then, change final alert to aim at the NEW ra2.mix file. That will make it read from there. Now, if that doesnt work...

**ALTERNATE** (recommended too, since it is not a cracked version...not what im using though!!)

Go and find an ISO of the games 2 discs, and burn em both. Or mount them using Daemon Tools, install a fresh install, and then re-install Final Alert. That SHOULD work.

...how dare you call it crap....

Seriously, why are you so reluctant to buy? RA2/YR alone are incredibly cheap after all. I guess I'm potsing just to further "push" you into buying it. And rightly so.

if you want to wait for "The First Decade" its actually a good idea, it contains:

XP conversions of:
CnC Tiberium Dawn
TD:Special Ops

Red Alert
RA:Counterstrike
RA:Aftermath

It also contains re-packed versions of:
CnC Tiberium Sun
TS:Firestorm

Red Alert 2
RA2:Yuri's Revenge

and it also contains:
CnC Renegade

CnC Generals
G:Zero Hour

10 games, assuming you count expansion packs as games, if you don't, its still 5 games + 5 expansion packs.

i mean, I'm probably going to buy it, and i've already got:
a copy of CnC DOS
CnC Win95
CnC Playstation
CnC Special Ops Win95+DOS
RA1 Win95+DOS
RA1 Playstation
an American copy of RA1 playstation
RA1 Counterstrike Win95+DOS
RA1 Aftermath Win95+DOS
a copy of RA Retaliation on playstation (i can't even play PS copies)
Tiberium Sun
a copy of TS:Firestorm (At the time, i couldn't find it to buy)
2x RA2 (I bought a second copy for LAN games)
YR

apart from the copy of CnC DOS(if you care about DOS) The First Decade will pretty much complete my collection
(DOS, Win95 and WinXP versions of CnC and RA1 )
shame about RA:Retaliation for playstation though...

Indeed, Retaliation was supposedly better than the original Red Alert for Playstation. I actually have much more nostalgic memories of playing the Playstation version of RA/Retaliation than the PC version...

i think that if i see RA:Retaliation, I'll probably buy it, then maybe i can have a link game against my brother
(this requires 2 old PSXs and a link cable, the PSone has no link port, and the PS2 although it can play the game, doesn't suport linking using the new firewire link systems)
