OK now I know what you're asking for.
Here's what you should do. Make several maps with different lighting settings and bundle the appropriate files with them so the new grass tiles will appear in-game on the machines of willing guinea pigs. You want to test this with VIDEO CARDS, not by polling people all looking at the same image.
Find someone with a GF4, a GF2, and try to dig up someone with a TNT2. Also get a couple of ATI cards, both from the Radeon 9X00 series and from something older. If you can find someone with a Voodoo3 that will run the whole range of what you're likely to see. Get screenshots from all these people and you'll be able to decide for yourself.

Really i'm not looking for a massive comparison by filtering in all different graphics adapters and displays. I simply want to know if people prefer a dot-dominated image (left) or a melded one with the extreme dots removed like in current RA2 style (right). Once I have a major opinion, I'm going to set about proper work using that method and THEN get a test out factoring in the differences in cards and machines. Since I'm REPLACING the existing tiles, all I have to do in play any existing map to test it, and tell others to do the same. Right now I simply want to know which direction to go, RA2 styles or a more 'satellite-look' approach.

That's just it, you really do have to look at it with different video cards. The game is sending instructions to the graphics adapter for dithering, and each video card is handling those instructions differently. I can tell you the standard grass tileset looks very different with a GF3 vs a Voodoo3. It's what it looks like IN THE GAME that counts here. What looks good on your config might look like ass on another.
Comparing the raw images is totally meaningless.

It's the style that matters the one on the left looks like it would fit in the sims as it looks more detailed and the one on the right looks like it should fit into RA2 as it's less detailed and more cartoon like in a way. So for RA2 the one on the right definatly.

I still say the right one. The left one looks nice, but somehow.....wouldn't fit in RA2 I guess.... :|
