Default Modding Team for a n00b in need

Ok, im more or less new to modding. The only mods ive been able to make are simple rulesmd.ini changes to paradrops and starting cash. I want to assemble a team to make a mod for yuri's revenge similar to cannis rules. I dont want to copy the guy but the mod is great in the way it has simple but effective changes such as 1 or 2 new units to each team rather than 30+ new units per side like other modders. Since im new I'll only be able to put in ideas on the mod and not actually mod although i'd love to learn modding as the project goes on. I have msn messenger and anyone whos interested can talk to me on there pretty much anytime during the week after 4 o'clock GMT. The mod will basically consist of a few tweaks to the gameplay and AI, plus some team changes and added units old and new. Yuris team will be chucked and his mind control goes back to the soviets team and a new side all together will be added; something like a global computer corporation trying to take over the world. Yours hopefully, Kaiser

Try to learn things yourself. Talented people have their own projects to work on.

Hiya Kaiser. If you want to learn modding you can try Tibed. It's a very easy tool that can help you familiarise yourself with modding.

And here I was thinking that all-caps nicknames don't necessarily indicate lack of intelligence.

his problem is that experienced modders do not recomend n00b programs like tibed. tibed is just terrible.

ok, if you use it to flick between the editor and the code to see what happens, thats fine, but the way tib-ed works, just doesn't allow for a great mod to be created.

i agree it can be a learning tool, if used correctly, but most people who use it become lazy and never stop, and then complain when it doesn't do what they expected it to.

note: i learned to mod by using tib-ed for about a week, then playing with XCC mixer and looking over the original rules file.

and please do not confuse the word "n00b" with "Newb", those are 2 totally different words, with 2 totally different meanings. n00b was originally a dirivative from newb in 1337 hacker language, but since then has evolved.

Quote:
newb = newbie = someone new
noob = n00b = annoying(to say it in 1 word).
noob = A very annoying idiot, someone who deliberatly goes out of their way to irritate other, someone stupid, someone who has the idea that a nuke launching cow costing $1 is a good idea for a mod unit, asshole, an insult... just to name a few definitions of the word

newb = newbie, someone new, someone willing to learn, someone who asks senible questions when they are stuck only after searching and not finding the answer... again, only a few examples.

Also, you do know that with PDs patch(something definitly not compatable with tibed) allows a fully functional 4th side, and extra countries to be added to the game.

What he does or doesn't do with Tibed is upto him. I woun't expect any first time modder to say...oh I know I'm going to make a total coversion replacing every side and every tank with new voxels, cameos and weapons. You HAVE to start small and often stupid. There's nothing wrong with using Tibed to familiarise yourself with the game. In the end they'll realise that Tibed is limited and they'll move on.

I haven't played RA2/YR in a long time so no I didn't know about that. Tibed isn't supposed to be the is all and end all of modding. It's a learning tool, nothing more. DCoder told him to figure it out for himself as him and others like him are too busy for "noob" projects. That isn't helpful or constructive and I'm branded the "all caps noob", go figure.
