ill give you some info on what i have got(notmuch) just so you know what im using

Hello and Welcome

Well to save me typing everything out, I would point you towards a good guide (with links to other useful guides at the bottom)

RA2FAQ » Kravvitz's RA2/YR Modding Tips and Answers to FAQ's

To get to the INI files you need XCC Mixer by Olaf, that can be got from here:

XCC Home Page by Olaf van der Spek

Once you've got this you can extract the .mix files found in the game directory and this will give you access to all the files you'll need to edit the game.

If you have any further questions after reading through the guides feel free to ask.

Default Q #1

here is my first question.

======
1-what are the 'Parameter value(s)' for crates?
======

the info you provided is a little more then i can handle, which is why i dont think i'll ever modd. way to complex to understand on my own.

okay, so i am using, the FinalAlert 2: Yuri'sRevenge ,map editor, and when i make a trigger with a event and a action, it dose spring but not how i wanted. he is a QUICK example of how it wold look like.

======
Trigger options,
house: america
type: 0-standard

events,
event: event#1
event type: #19 Build building type
event parameters:
building type - #3allied barracks

actions,
actions type: #108 create crate...
NOTE:Create a Goodie Crate with specific contents at a waypoint. You are responsible for knowing which contents are currently supported by the game.
action parameters:
crate type: ???? <---this is where i am stuck i have tryed lots of words EX;
veteran
health
reveal
ectect....
i have even tryed thing's like this,
veteran=1
health=1
reveal=1
still nothing it just ends up giving me a 'money' crate instead and then there is more creats on the map, and they are all defaults. just regualr crates. i just would like to know how too make a crate of my choice appear.
waypoint: 'XXX' <--- would be ur number* this part works fine.

=========

i hope this dose not mess you up and purhapse you can help me out a little more.

Yeh i'd agree that it's very complex but once you get into it (along time ago for me now!) you get the general idea of how things roll and it all seems to make sense.

Anyway back to your point i'd point you to the below (actually from Deezire but can't find it on this forum anymore but all props to him nonetheless) for this:

RA2/YR - Creating Crates with Map Triggers - Parameter Definitions - C-GEN

Shows you the values to enter for the crate you want !

I didn't do much map editing but from what your saying you've said you can get it to spawn a crate it just is money only but when you say "and then there is more crates on the map and they are all defaults" do you mean the ones that just spawn or your action causes more than the intended crate to appear?

yes i can get the crate to spawn at the waypoint just fine, only gives me money crate, again. and yes, also when i grab the crate, another crate replace's it 'randomly' on the map. also as if the trigger repeated itself automaticly. how this happens i am let to figure out, even when i use value '0=standar/no repeat'

i have a screen shot of the out come of the bug. it dose look like MADDNESS...lmao its rather funnie at the same time. there is for every 3rd square of space a crate in the end..... its utter madness and can be fun sometimes.

again, thank you for you'er GREAT support and proumt answer's.

too cool!
im going to check out these values now. i thoguht you have to use 'alpha-t9' word and NOT number system haha.

"well there's you're problem"

Cheers!

I have two questions.
1) How do you modify the campaign maps used in Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge?
2) How do you modify the build times and costs of all the units?

1. download final alert 2, the map editor.
2. rules.ini. self explanatory.
