Default Extracting the videos from C&C3

Hi (whoa... it's been about 3 years since I created my account here and 2 years since I last made a post here).

Anyway, does anyone have an authoritative word on how to extract the videos from within C&C3? I want to use them in a few future rounds of PlanetCnC.com's weekly PhotoshopTHIS competition.

Ta!

Okay, I've found the solution.

Use FinalBIG to extract the *.vp6 files from the *.BIG archives. However these VP6 files won't play in On2's TrueCast player, nor the FLVPlayer program, and their desktop codec pack doesn't work with these files either, but you need it to play the *.avi files later on.

I then followed the rest of this guide to convert them from *.vp6 to AVI files which play fine.

It might be worth using fraps or some such other program of black magic and darkness to capture the video sections that you want, the extracted videos will be MASSIVE and if all you want is a few stills it might not be worth it since all the videos can just be played from in game. Presumeably also someone will make a program that will run the videos in their raw format from within the game files itself.

It's do-able, I might even write one myself. But I don't think it's immediately worth it when you can already do it with FinalBIG, EA's VP6->AVI converter, the On2 VP6 codecs, and software-acceleration (to get the screenshots working).
