I wouldn't it too bad at all especially for your first. Good job...
My first model. Its *supposed to be* a tesla tank, it kindof sucks, but hey, what can i say. Well, here it is
And oh yea, i forgot to include it, but the poly count is 714 =/ Its a little high.

Good first try, though I'd focus on using as much reference as possible. Right now your tesla tank is disproportionate in many areas and in others you've 'made up' stuff to connect things together.
hehe, well thanx for the positive feedback...and what do u mean by making things up to connect things?
The area 'holding' the coils on your model doesn't exist like that on the real design.
not bad for your first try... but 714 polies? way to much for that amount of detail
it mighta been the spheres, i kinda thought 8 sides was 2 much, but the rings are only 5 sides, and plus, the cylinder is only 3 sided so ya, i dont know which one it was
You aren't the first person to try the tesla tank as a first try... it's not a good choice since the coils tend to add a lot of polies to your models if you don't use more advanced shader tricks to fake them.
I'd recommend trying to model a standard vehicle from reality next and see how you do with that since they're normally fairly straight forward.
And for reference, here's a fairly accurate low poly Tesla Tank... and before anyone asks I forget how many polies it is.

is that the crusader's chassis?
*kitbashing!*
still, nothing wrong with kitbashing to learn :P
No killa, its the paladin's chassis =P, but like i said, its my first model, im just tryin 2 get good @ a few things at a time, like i tried to make the coils good this time, next im gonna work on things like turret details, then i'll try my own chassis, then things like the pipes on the back and other details.
