    Default Anyone thinking of starting a mod from scratch for BFME?

    So far most of our discussions have been about porting existing mods, or general possibility questions.

    What's I'm wondering is if anyone is currently planning on 'rolling with it' and making something original that conforms to what's available in the new game engine?

    I have a couple mod ideas hanging around that could still work with BFME since they never really had any similarity to generals in the first place. In this respect BFME might be a good turn for some of those ideas (assuming I ever actually managed to find time/interest/will power to do them.)

    So again, is anyone sitting back, seeing what the answers to the possibilities are and just planning around that? Or is everyone in the porting boat?

    I'm probably going to create a project from scratch for BFME in additon to the Blitz2 port. The main appeal is the massive scale of BFME, huge buildings and armies...it can really let us do things that wouldn't have looked right before.

    I have little doubt that there will be many new mods started up (more so than are ported).

    The only thing Im thinking of is making some missions and maps that recreate areas of the storyline that have been omitted from the game and which were not present in any of the films. Already chatted with Ted about this.

    I have plans for BFME, whether they actually see the light of day is a completely different matter though :P

    So, the scale of battle is a drawing factor, and of course the universe itself as in Dee's case.

    The world map is interesting to me though none of my ideas have a use for it planned since they were made with generals in mind.

    Still that map could be fun to play with.


    Is anyone planning on making a fantasy based mod that isn't directly LOTR related or anything else nifty?

    I havea few plans for making original BFME content. Not sure wha to go with. I'll need to have the game to decide, but I definetly want to mod for it.

    Maybe my imagination is limited, but all that comes to mind is either fantasy or warfare. I don't think there is anything else that can be done.

    Does anyone have any idea of what Tiberian Twilight was supposed to include? I was thinking.... Maybe we could make the next C&C in the form of a mod.

    OK, if this is TT like Google says it is, forget it.

    Since the .w3d system has not been changed I can put my pirate santa into action.. would love to see him move about in his boat while nazgul attack minas tirith...

    I want to try a 'castle warfare' style mod (instead of building locations being decals on the ground, they would be empty buildings inside your castle that you upgrade to an armory, blacksmith, etc) with peasant villages and other smaller outposts that you need to defend for resources, and BFME is shaping up to work perfectly for a (fantasy/sci fi) storyline i dreamed up years ago... it would probably be better suited for a RPG, but we'll see...

    I intend on making a mod for it. Started for Generals, never anounced or coded at all, so were gonna make it for this instead.
